We gain more from doing things and accomplishing things….even small accomplishments. Machines are nice but they take us away from experiencing life. You said you’re on a message board instead of getting fresh air and feeling sunshine.
My wife actually tries to stop me from mowing lol. Takes me around 2.5 hours and that’s with a 60” zero turn. It’s nice and peaceful outside.
I mean, a lawn mower is a machine too. I'm not about to get out there with a machete to trim the grass like I saw people in Africa doing
If you mow the lawn, you've tamed nature and shaped it to your will ... you are basically a god. You arent going to get that feeling washing dishes.
I get it though. When you reach a certain age you're required to either get super into your yard or get super into smoking meats. There's no other way
You made the comment that you’re on a message board and don’t have to mow your yard. Nice pivot though. I never said you couldn’t gain life experience from other accomplishments. World is changing for sure. I’m making the point that people are happier when they accomplish tasks and yes we receive self worth when we do even the smallest things. You actually said it’s quite the opposite. I don’t get that.
I can't recommend an EV mower because my yard laughs at any attempt man has come up with so far. Maybe in 20 years they will get to a point that they will work. But for your yard, go with what is easily maintainable. Most likely, of all the parts of an EV tool, you will be replacing your battery, a lot. Do your research to find out what brand has solid batteries, aren't too expensive and look at the power output. I have an entire line of Ryobi from trimmers, to hedge clippers, to blowers and even a chainsaw, and they are good for small yards, less than a half acre. The blower isn't bad but you need to upgrade the battery because the standard batteries last maybe 20 minutes. For reference, I have a 7 acre yard, but my EV tools are for the area around the house where it is mostly landscaped. As for a mower, same goes. Watch Youtube videoes of reviews of them and pay attention to maintenance and battery replacement. After 10 years of using EV tools, you buy the battery and they give you the tool for free. I've spent more than $1,000 on batteries over the last 10 years. I guard them like they are gold bullion. My wife tends to keep them out in the carport and I'm quick to removing them and bringing them in the house. They can steal the tool but it's the battery that will cost you. But I still want to get a new gas-powered chain saw for the power alone.
I always did my own lawn (with a Honda push mower). Never considered it peaceful. Being on a trail away from just about everything is my type of peaceful. But I get it, some people love doing yardwork and it is certainly better than sitting on your ass.
I have a nice GREEN solution. Put up an electric fence and go get youself a pair of male and female goats. No emissions, limited gas that evaporates in the atmosphere, free fertilizer, and in case of an end of the world scenario you will have goats milk and in the worst case a decent BBQ. You may have to throw the HOA enforcer a few bucks, but hey, in today's world everybody is on the take.
Hahaha. You projected the sense of accomplishment and therapy you get cutting your grass on a lack of me getting the same. I'll spend my free time on the weekend after a long work week spending time with family and friends. You can cut your grass. Guess that makes us both happy. Win win.
I had to cut the lawn from age 6 till 16. I'm sure a psychologist will tell you that's why I don't enjoy it now. I do spend a profilic amount of time in my backyard though.
Getting ready to get a e- rider. Love the john deere as the batterires are built in like a golf cart and you jusr wall plug it to charge it. Comes at a steep price but still thinking of pulling the trigger.
You miss the point again. This site does that to people. I’m making a very simple point and you just cannot see it or admit that you can’t. The more humans get away from doing things…the more unhappy we become. Another example…Self driving cars might save lives, but we will become unhappy as we have less to accomplish. You can choose to deny this truth but you are wrong.
