If the state government is funding the school then the people who live in the state should have say so as to how it spent. There's no doubt in my mind that schools are left leaning as my girlfriend have ten boys that have just gone through our schools. Left and right in our state is still pretty much split right down the middle, and I would prefer that all our leaders in every position take that into consideration
Simply posting what I knew. Antagonist to the Protagonist. It was not a judgement. Many Floridians would call him a hero.
I’m not arguing against what you’re saying - other than not recognizing how far left academia is, from K-12 right on up through universities. Therefore, regardless of their stated professions, I am not surprised in the slightest that the trustees would get behind a guy with the kind of woke background Jojo has. Regarding left vs right - it’s not about me as much as it’s about the direction that our country and certainly our state is moving. It is totally illogical to bring in a guy with Jojo’s political background and future leanings into this office when everything is moving to right-of-center. The timing for such a move would be absurd. Again, not arguing with you here - simply stating that I’m really glad this guy is not the president at UF.
If waffling were such a critical factor we should find a new governor and entirely new administration and quite a few Supreme court justices. Sadly in todays world waffling is a nothing burger and to treat it like you used to as a deal killer is past tense....like it or not.
You can hate on the gov and the prez all you want, but the one thing you can’t accuse them of is waffling. You make far more sense when you’re pushing the Lume
Foolish ignorance. You know diddly squat about this guy, let alone his quals for running a flagship. The "waffling" was part of a political game, which apparently you are a fanboy for.
Wrong. All Facts: There was a member of the Board of Governers on the search committee. His name is Charles Lydecker. The search committee recommended 1 candidate. The Board of Trustees unanimously approved that candidate. Mori Hosseini made an impassioned plea to the Board of Governors to approve him. The Board of Governers overwhelmingly rejected him. Some of the rest of what I wrote is speculation, but in this case I don't believe I need much of a magnifying glass to read between the lines.
There isn't a qualified tier 1 president out there that would meet the approval of the current BOG. Every president of a top university has had to deal with DEI/protests/ etc in the past 10 plus and everyone of them has changed their positions for or against. It's what you do as a president. You take the temp of your school/alumni/state you live and work in. Ono would have made a fine president. He improved every school he worked at. Some didn't like his decisions but the rankings and donations don't lie. This is a black eye on UF.
Now bringing this back to swamp gas. The happiest man in the room over this decision is Napier. No chance he gets fired until there is a new president.
Possibly not, but let me re-direct your attention to a very good explanation of what UF needs, and the qualifier of "tier 1 president" isn't necessarily required: Post #73 A new university president?
I've noted elsewhere: This is our message board in the off-season. We get to know each other's idiosyncrasies and proclivities now so we can gel better in the heat of the season.
Lo... the only proclivities I notice are in game threads. It's easy to tell that some people like to partake in some potent potables... and it comes out during game threads. Yeah, even normally cool Gator fans can get hot in game threads.
