My prediction is that in the end Trump will get his budget busting tax bill. Until we have a Congress and President willing to increase revenue we will continue to run huge deficits and increase the national debt.

How about the language of the actual law from Congress, would that be a good enough link?

Rather than read conspiracy non-sense from a mentally challenged person like Chip Roy, try reading about what happens in the real world some time. Here is the North Carolina assessment.

Hint: I know you will not read it because it accurately portrays the situations, especially the divide between well funded hospitals vs rural, underfunded and over used rural facilities.

No Dem likes Musk, which is the point and you know it. If even this Trump fan-boy detests this bill, it should be a wake up call to the rest of you MAGAs. However, it appears that the programming runs to deeply.

Yeah Republicans keep playing these rhetorical games, to appease the base, where they won’t increase taxes, have further tax cuts, and then offset that, and more with “spending cuts”. then 80-90% of spending is pretty much off the board immediately and the balance of discretionary spending is very politically difficult, not to mention mostly counterproductive.

You don’t move the needle unless you address taxes and entitlement spending.

Ultimately Trump doesn’t care a lick about deficits.

Another scam that Republicans are promoting is dynamic economic projections. That have been employing the same scam since the Reagan tax cuts of 1980 (proposed in 1980, enacted in 1981). The myth and it's been debunked multiple times through actual data is that massive tax cuts would pay for themselves through increased economic activity. The reality is that the increase economic activity such that it was never came remotely close to replacing the lost revenue. MAGA Mike Johnson is promoting the myth again. I would add that perhaps the best description of dynamic projects came from the late President George H.W. Bush when he coined the term "Voodoo economics" during the 1980 Republican presidential primary campaign.

I think there are some dynamic aspects to these things, but overall a tax cut is going to mostly cut revenue. Perhaps 10-25% of the cut comes back through economic growth, capital gains etc, but mostly it’s a deficit.

Lol... Chip Roy is not mentally challenged. You're focused on Medicaid, and it is fraught with fraud. Can we agree that foreigners should NOT be taking money away from American on Medicaid? And that We The People should NOT have to pay for illegal aliens and their medical bills?

The Medicaid overpayment rate was 5.1% in 2024 and not all of that was the result of fraud. Illegal aliens are generally not eligible for federal Medicaid although they may be eligible for medical assistance under some state programs. One question, would you want an undocumented worker with a communicable disease who is harvesting crops, working in a meatpacking plant or washing dishes in a restaurant to go treated or untreated?

Again? do they now? Protests continue.
IMO this is why he’s separating from Dear Leader. Rebuild his or Tesla’s brand.

“Elon Musk left the Trump administration with a White House send-off on Friday. That was a victory of sorts for a group of activists who have spent much of the last four months organizing protests against Mr. Musk’s right-wing politics by targeting his electric car company, Tesla.

A day later, on Saturday, hundreds of people showed up at more than 50 Tesla showrooms and other company locations to continue their protests.”

Chip Roy definitely has an issue where he cannot utter a single word that is true. I have never seen a liar on his scale.

Meanwhile, you started down the Medicaid rabbit hole, I simply pointed out your Chip Roy BS Provider Tax conspiracy non-sense was an utter lie, not shocking from Roy.

The United States tax dollars should be spent to help protect the healthcare care of Americans. That includes ensuring sick illegals can be treated and prevented from spreading disease. Now, if you want to make the argument that the best way to prevent disease is to remove illegals who are taxing our healthcare system and use the savings to ensure that all Americans are able to be covered, then sure, I would 100% agree with your assertion.

All of that said, the massive cuts to Medicaid that are going to be part of this bill are not simply telling a small number of people to go pretend that they are searching for work or illegals. NPR reports that is less than 8% of all recipients, so not a major part of the spending. Where it is really going to impact is in rural areas and low income areas where services will be massively scaled back. Further, as mentioned earlier, that will be the result of eliminating the Provider Tax and may cause a number of facilities that specialize in care for medicaid recipients to close. Again depriving those who need it the most.

He's right. Still waaaayyyy too much waste.

The conventional wisdom holds--we can debt spend ourselves to prosperity!

It will be interesting to see if the Senate, since they are not up for re-election every 2 years, will take a longer, deeper look at spending and revenue generation. Not one Democrat or Republican in Congress is big boy or big girl enough to admit it, but at this point revenues HAVE to increase, ie increased taxes and spending has to be cut.

I personally think that the attack on spending on infrastructure based on renewable energy is a poor decision and if Congress has allocated the money it should be spent. That investment will actually create jobs, will increase economic activity and move the country forward and benefit Americans. Regressive investment in pipelines so oil companies can more easily export more natural gas to Europe, providing almost no benefit to the American tax payer makes ZERO sense to me. However, should they decide to claw back all of that unspent money and bank it, ie not spend it elsewhere then fine. Not my preference, but I would not be horrified at it.

What else can they cut into or where else can they raise revenue? Lots of little things, but nothing that I see to make a significant impact?? Trim military from $1T+ to $800B? That is still a huge number?? Slash other discretionary spending as much as the law allows? OK, but that is still a small bump?
