Hmmn: there were no complaints by the Sooners as they were winning 6 of the last 9 NCs, the last 4 in a row!! Give me a break, Patty!
I disagree! The reason for rest is primarily a bullpen issue. Baseball (pitching overhand) is far more stressing to the body than softball (underhand). This has always been the reason for a break between games. Position players are fine to play doubleheaders.

Oklahoma softball coach Patty Gasso calls out 'unfair' WCWS format

Gasso suggested that the NCAA needs to eliminate the "if necessary" doubleheader in the semifinals. She asked reporters in the room if she could "go on a soapbox for a minute," before sharing her idea.

“If we are all about women's athletics and women's sports and rah rah, do not make us play doubleheaders to get to a national championship series. Do not do that. Don't do that,” Gasso said. “They don't do it in baseball. It should not happen.”

I personally do wish there were pitch counts for softball. My daughter is a solid 15 year old pitcher and I’ve seen too often where a high school or travel teams rides 1 pitcher for every game. It’s not just about the arm/shoulder. It’s knees, hips, lower back etc…

that might not be specifically what Gasso it’s talking about, buts it’s in the general area lol.

Gasso is a great coach, but should accept her team's loss in the semifinals with dignity and class instead of complaining about something that has helped her team in the past - which is a team coming out of the loser's bracket needing to play a doubleheader to face the undefeated team who has the extra day of rest. Just congratulate Texas Tech, keep quiet and focus on building your team for 2026. Bad look for her, IMO.

She wasn't for it this time because she knows they wouldn't have won having to play 2 imo. All they would rely on was Landry and they wouldve been screwed. She didnt have a problem with it when Florida was having to play a double header last year to knock them out before Rian delayed it anyway.

I get it completely what shes saying but I personally like the dh. Let's that team coming out of the losers bracket keep momentum and you find out the resiliency of the team that lost then. Also the one in the winners bracket would've already had more rest anyway.

Would carry more weight if she said it 2-4 years ago when she had the advantage. Hypocrisy IMO.

When you win a ton you will tend to develop a god complex. She did not used to be like that but nowadays she does come across as extremely arrogant and entitled which again I can understand when you win that much you develop this sense of invincibility. When they do lose, eating humble pie is not really in her language. The whining and complaining tend to come out.

The reason they do that double hitter format is because throwing a softball is not the same as throwing a baseball thus throwing in the argument well baseball does not do that is not really a fair comparison.

You have a home field advantage to begin with so any complaining about anything means nothing to me. I'm sure the rest of the country would bring up why don't we just find a new location for the WCWC.

It has always been the same—it might be one thing to be the smartest person in the room but it never comes across in your favor when it’s apparent that you’re trying to appear to be that smartest person in the room.

No only home field advantage, but the biggest blank check in D1 for NIL uses.

I am far from a TT fan but I sure was pulling for the Mercenaries over the Love's Truck Stop gang!!! Besides, the mercenaries coach has big ones and is not afraid of winning!

Ok but...neither side of the bracket even saw the "if necessary" game this year. What a weird thing to whine about lol

Yeah, she could have done the correct thing, like Hurley does after a loss.

Okay, maybe that is not a good example...
