Whatever the case, the idea that anyone with criminal intent is going to get a gun regardless of the laws is demonstably false.

Oh so absolutes are out only when it applies to your pov? Murders are obviously committed by criminals. Him not getting a gun proves nothing, killers will get guns when they can and use other nefarious methods when they can’t. One killer can’t manage to get a gun and it’s all false. Gotcha.
Open carry. Hard to intervene when it's legal to walk up to a business carrying a loaded AR15. Lots of crazies in that state. Too bad since there are so many really chill communities out there.
Burning to death is one of the worst ways to die, and I’m sure suffering severe/life altering burns isn’t much better if anyone’s injuries reached that level. But the point is it’s quite likely with the rifle he would have killed - whereas without the rifle nobody died. That is not to minimize the injuries, but it’s a true observation. His intent was to kill and he failed to do that with his crude incendiary devices. If he’d been able to get what he wanted we’d likely be talking about mass casualties instead of mass injuries. Not sure this is a win for CO law as it sounds like his immigration status was the more obvious roadblock, but in this case not sure how we can deny the roadblock to his attempted purchase saved lives.
Again Lots of imagining going on here. Do we know he wanted to obtain a rifle? Dow e know he tried? If the answers is no we don’t know how can it be demonstrably false that any criminal with evil intend CAN obtain a gun illegally. We have on poster claiming strict gun laws in Colorado kept this guy from doing so much more damage and another saying the open carry gun laws in Colorado are why so many terrible events happen there? How about this How about we look at the monster that clearly wanted to cause pain and suffering to the Jews protestor/demonstrators. How about we look at him and not his choice of tool to induce pain.
We dont have to imagine that he was unable to get a gun due to laws that prevented him from doing so. You and others have talked about "maybe" he did this or that and introduced all kinds of speculation. Simple fact is he couldnt get a gun and he turned to another type of weapon. I'll agree you can not use one case to make the case for or against the efficacy of gun laws, but in this case they did prevent a person with murderous intent from obtaining a gun and for whatever reason, over the course of a year, he couldnt obtain a black-market AR-15.
We do know he tried to obtain a gun and he even took a concealed carry course. The police stated it pretty quickly in their investigation. Now I’m not sure we know what type of gun(s), other than the concealed carry aspect which means he at least wanted a handgun. That doesn’t mean his efforts were limited to that. But the point remains either way, even the handgun likely results in a deadly attack so it was a good thing he was declined.

NBC have in other headlines called it a “targeted antisimetic attack”, so it seems quite nonsensical to get hung up on one milquestoast headline in isolation and then make the leap to “nBc iS tErRoRiStS”.
Prove that he could not get a gun. Please. Prove that he tried to find a black market gun and failed. The fact he’s didn’t use one is not proof.
Uhh ... he didnt have a gun. The reporting said he was attempted to and didnt get one due to his immigration status. What more proof do you need? Use your brain for a second and drop your pro-gun ideology lol.

At the same time they want to imagine how horrible the event would have been if he had a gun as proof of how bad guns area at the same time they espouse how the gun laws work in Colorado they moan that open carry laws are why Colorado have so many tragic events. And the. The same people claim that having strong state gun laws are useless because peeps can get guns across state lines or on the black market too easily.. except apparently in this case.

That’s fair… I don’t usually take that stance. Again. The focus shouldn’t be one the tool used to commit heinous crimes. The focus should be on the people that commit heinous crimes. A large truck, forms, a gun, a bomb , a plane.. all have been used to murder innocent people. All have the same thing in common .. monsters who want to hurt and maim. Kill the monsters. Immediately.
I don’t think this even has to do with CO gun laws, but more to do with his immigration status. He wasn’t able to obtain guns because of his status. In THIS case it’s pretty obvious that existing roadblock saved lives. Yes, that is an assumption. Maybe he could have brought a gun and totally missed? Or maybe bringing a gun allows him to kill 10? It’s impossible to quantify what DIDN’T happen, so it can only be an assumption. But you are also applying an assumption that it’s easy for anyone to obtain guns on the black market. Obviously many criminals do obtain them illicitly, but doesn’t sound like this guy was connected criminally or particularly resourceful (he apparently looked up how to make molotovs online). Maybe it will turn out he had a secret stash at home, but I’d think law enforcement would have mentioned that by now. I think the only connection to gun laws/gun debates is that those who want more restrictions know that putting up restrictions means some # of these cases give up on acquiring the gun. Some of those will be too cowardly and give up their plot entirely (so that translates to some unknowable # of lives saved), others will try alternate means to lash out, as this guy apparently did here based on what we know.
