Oh my. Not a great start to summer with the Johnson incident as well. Hope everyone is okay. They gave away who it was in the last sentence though.
Are we protecting the names of the innocent until proven guilty here, now? Just kidding. This is very bad news, no matter who it is... indeed.
"The accused in the attack, who is 17-year-old early enrollee with the Florida Gators, is set to be charged in Alachua County Civil Court as a juvenile." Is it normal for this not to be in Criminal court or is this just another example of journalistic incompetence.
It's possible. Juvenile Courts are separate and distinct from adult Criminal Courts. The Juvenile Court is designed for intervention (what's not working at home) and rehabilitation of the minor. Different states handle them differently but falling under the civil as opposed to criminal courts isn't surprising. He's lucky as a 17 YO college student he is getting Juvenile Court, IMO.
Very few true freshmen get playing time in the SEC trenches. I'd hope our NIL deals have morals clauses. Hit them where it really hurts.
I'm old enough to remember when football players didn't have much trouble getting women without having to beat them up. Of course I also remember, later on, when head coaches would cover it up or think it was no big deal when they did.
Unless the accuser grossly mischaracterized the incident, juvenile or not, this guy needs to be gone.
