The bill is completely unnecessary. The tax rates should be allowed to expire, we arent paying enough to cover the basics of govt without massive debt. I am in favor of a ramp up back to the pre-2017 levels to mitigate the shock to the economy, but lets not kid ourselves about cutting our way to a balanced budget. Even with DOGE and the pubs in control, its not going to happen without entitlements being cut.

David Rubenstein was recently on CNBC and was ripped for making this very statement. Taxes HAVE to go up on all Americans at this point, and every US corporation as well. We are well beyond the point of cutting discretionary spending even mattering other than the insane military budgets that we are now putting forward.

One thought, right now, every American owes $106,000.00 in national debt. I would be willing to pay that for me and my wife in exchange for our tax rates permanently staying where they are.

They have to, it's not popular to say but it's necessary. When was the last time taxes were raised? Bush the elder maybe, 91? Way to long.

Maybe they need to raise taxes, maybe not… but last two times Republicans took power their very first move was to make the budget status quo worse (this time even more looney tunes with the constant threats of tariffs).

Well the Maga crowd are CINOs and are not fiscally conservative at all, so not surprised they made it worse and are planning to make it worse with this big beautiful bullshit. Ironically Musk is potentially going to derail this stupid looney toons shit.

Didn't anyone tell him that changing the spending that is already been appropriated cannot be defunded in the Reconciliation Bill?

That has to be in a completely different bill... a Rescission Bill? He should know that. Here is his real problem with congressional waste, fraud and abuse. I think this below might have to be addressed in the Rescission bill, if these spending clowns in the Senate do not fix it now. I'm Not sure about whether this can be put in a Reconciliation Bill or not.

As usual Rick, wrong. Dead wrong. Provider taxes are not uniform. While they have a ceiling currently set at 6%, they are not uniform across all providers. In short, money raised from the well funded institutions is matched by the federal government and distributed across the system, including to the care providers with poor margins and MANDATED staffing levels. In particular, nursing homes. Eliminating the provider tax would result in one of two things....1) states having to raise income or sales taxes to make up for the loss and/or 2) all those stories you hear about "grandma losing healthcare and being thrown out into the street would come true as nursing homes and elder care facilities would just close down.

And while there is almost certainly some facilities out there abusing this system, a blanket elimination would not only be stupid, it would not do anything about people who are masters at defrauding the system.

Strangely, given that the Trump Crime Family has been such masters at defrauding people through the years, you would think that they would be perfect for hunting down the fraudsters in the system. Yet, they don't do that at all. Huh, odd.

You mean the article is wrong.
Yeah, I do NOT BELIEVE YOU. You are nothing more than a Liberal Dems fanboy that believes what you want to believe. You see an article that shows you a massive government graft/scam, and you say it's wrong? Yet you offer up nothing in the way of links to refute the information that I think is true.

I think Elon might should have waited until the Senate changes this spending bill. But he is right that the House Bill has far too much wasteful spending in it... and the SALT deductions should be ZERO

I would imagine if the Bill that comes out of the Senate reduces spending, he will support that and then the Dems won't like him again.

You think Dems like Musk now because he trashed Trump's big beautiful bill? We're just laughing at Musk for being such a fool. Everyone knew this was going to happen.

Do you really think senate republicans will decrease spending more than house members?

Tell that to Republican House members running for reelection from swing districts in New York and California. It was flipping those seats in 2022 that gave Republicans their majority in the House and enabled them to retain it in 2024.
