Um- didn't I say that in point #1? That Napier walked into the worst situation since 1979 at least. So that means SOS nor Meyer had a mess like Napier had. But to be clear- my assertion that Spurrier/ Meyer would have done better with the same roster is purely theoretical. It's fine if someone disagrees. It can never be proven. It's just my opinion. But I'll say again that Napier isn't the dynamic, huge impact in year 1 type of guy that some of our fanbase wants. He just isn't. He's a slow build coach. So in that sense some may say he was a bad pick. I would not, but I have patience.
Nobody yet. My hope is that Napier is building something sustainable for the long run and gets to enjoy the fruits of his labor. That being said, I hope he realizes the precariousness of his current situation and moves quickly.
I'm not sure if urban is innovative but he's a damn good CEO and runs a tight ship. Spurrier was definitely a genius. Napier has built some weapons on offense and a DJ becomes an elite quarterback. I think most of us will be happy with that offense. Then there's the other side of the ball......
Last we saw he was throwing two interceptions against Tulane. The potential is there, but he is not a finished product yet
My recollection is, he was being harassed. Less of that and more clean pocket should help. Go OL and OC scheming!
I saw a projection we win 6.4. I think if they project 6.5 we get to something like 8.5. What did they say last season, 4.5 and we won 8 ?
Well hell, he’s had an entire season to produce a championship and failed to do so. The Bama fans are showing remarkable restraint to not have run him off already.
I think what Urb did was hire extremely good coaches and recruited so well. That takes care of most of it and makes a HC look genius. Wasn't our staff under Meyer, until the Dazzler, one of our best ever? If only Napier had a staff that level he would be coasting. Urban looked like a genius when we played Arkansas in the SEC Championship when we executed the fake punt, when our STs recovered an end zone punt fumble, and Percy reeled off that TD run. That's what detailed training and talent does for a HC. Great game!
Dsmn sure a bit of luck involved even when those types of plays are practiced and executed. Damn sure cant count on it to work.
He did inherit a powerhouse and promptly lose to vandy for the first time in the history of of ever. He better beat vandy this year or he may get a literal pitchfork in the ass or worse.
That was last game, that excuse wont work in a few short weeks. I hope the lights come on blindingly bright
Danny played so unevenly early on that he was the subject of one of Steves most famous jabs. As I recall that worked out okay. But I don't disagree at all about DJ not being a finished product or that he needs to show significant growth if UF is to really put things together this year. But I place more credence in his record as a starter and the fact that he left the game in his only loss with the lead and the momentum, than mediocre game stats in a pair of late season wins. Watching him play with injuries and still managing to lead UF to back-to-back wins against SEC playoff hopefuls speaks reams to me. The kid's a natural leader, a genuine dual threat when healthy, and a stellar arm talent with a 6-1 record as a FR starter. Barring injury, that doesn't leave much to brood about in my world. There are no guarantees in life, but this young man is special. JMHO.
We’re riding a 4-game win streak Why don’t more people look at it this way? What’s to bitch about when you’re on a win streak?
