Yeah I forget reason why, but hotels are limited to start with from what I remember reading. I think some high school event was going on too.. but not sure
SEC not looking so good. 8 national seeds and some big ones are already out. Plus none of the SEC's non-#1 seeds broke through. OUT - Vanderbilt, Texas, Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Kentucky. Still IN - Arkansas, Tennessee (they play in the Supers so 1 SEC team will be in Omaha), Auburn and maybe LSU. So the SEC had 8 Top 16 national seeds, 13 teams total; 4 national seeds have already lost their Regionals at home and 1 is on the brink tonight. That's not a good showing at all. Overrated??? I'm a Gator fan and pretty much hate the rest of the SEC, so I love what has happened.
Yea, stuff happens in baseball , but I d actually be more upset if the Gators were bounced after being a top 8 regional seed playing at home. I find the Texas losses to UTSA the most surprising.
I realize I am grasping straws and giving "them" back-handed compliments, but methinks UTSA had a bit of ECU in them, in that they decided to be inspired to take down one of the supposed and local elites. When you are playing with Monopoly money, interesting things can happen, even in a double elimination setup. UTx being a bit arrogant and uninspired when compared to their resources and talent? What else is new about that? They did NOT look the part of the #1 overall team when we played them in the series. There were some real flaws. I am quite shocked and disappointed in Vandy. You go into the winner's kick coming down the stretch and then decide it best to stop and eat some oats? Really!?! And yeah, methinks the SEC spent too much time reading the press clippings and building Death Stars while ignoring the small fighters who can put a shot down your shaft. As I posted on the game thread, baseball is a simple game. Too many coaches want to make it complex and bend it to their will. Hopefully they - or at least Sully - beings to get it.
UTSA was a 2 seed. T25 rpi.. Now 18th. They are a good example of why Top 32 should be seeded without any geography influence. IMO to high of a 2 seed for the #2 overall seed, & then the added incentive of playing instate/big brother team. No sympathy for HOrns , but it shouldnt happen that way..IMO But then again you shouldnt play entire season to earn a host and then hit first 3 of 4 games either. 3 rounds of 'Supers' to get to Omaha..make it happen
Has there ever been a more wide open field? Super regionals Best-of-three series Friday, June 6, through Monday, June 9 Miami at Louisville No. 9 Florida State at No. 8 Oregon State Arizona at No. 5 North Carolina Coastal Carolina at No. 4 Auburn UTSA at No. 15 UCLA Murray State at Duke West Virginia at No. 6 LSU No. 14 Tennessee at No. 3 Arkansas
Vegas agrees , at least after LSU & Ark..both +370. UNC +700 Vols +750 Aub + 800 FSU + 1000 Org St. + 1200 Coastal +14000 Ucla +1500 Duke +2600 Arz/UTSA/Lville + 4400 Miami + 5000 WVU +7500 Racers + 11000
Ha ha, I get it. I just don't have the hate for Texas you and others do, kind of indifferent really and of course I thought they were better than they were especially with Schloss now as their coach.
Maybe this will be the year the Hogs finally get over the hump ( yea probably not ) Here's rooting for early exits for vols, FSU, canes, coastal and LSU.
Yea, I just never thought ole Miss was that good. Historically, they lose before omaha. But yea, no parties in Oxford this year. At least their softball team had a surprisingly good run.
Well maybe Horns seeded too high. I get the point and it doesn't really matter but I'll bet 95% of college baseball fans never even heard of UTSA and it's doubtful they have much of a fan base to travel. $$$
