Right. Because Biden gave all their money to illegal immigrants.

Oh wait, that was just another Trumpy lie. Maybe they helped eat the dogs or something.

It's all just another Trumpy cycle of picking a positive American institution to destroy because .... Trump!! ..... and watching his followers gleefully join in. It's a tired and pathetic loop by now.

I do. Why not, he takes credit for everything else, including actions taken before he was president. This is what he said:

“Basically, what we’re doing is equalizing. There’s a new word that I came up with, which is probably the best word,” he said.

    Not very ambiguous, really.

Obviously (to me) Trump was riffing and using the word equalizing in perhaps a novel way to describe an objective he wanted to achieve with tariffs. I guess after what happened in November a lot of Democrats are desperate for any sort of win.

With someone else, I might buy that. Trump, however, is so ignorant and vain, not to mention an absolute pig for adulation and recognition, that I think he meant exactly what he said.

It seems pretty simple. Trump said he created the word. So:
He'd really never heard of it and thought he had created it, which indicates an amazing amount of ignorance on his part.
He knew he hadn't created it, but he lied about a little thing like that to give himself credit for something he didn't do.
We've all seem more than enough examples of each of those behaviors from him. So not telling which it was this time. Either is clearly possible.

    tip of the iceberg

Tornado-ravaged voters in MAGA stronghold reveal glaring problem with Trump's 'America First'

MAGA voters in a tornado-ravaged pocket of Mississippi have turned on Donald Trump after he failed to help them for months after deadly twisters tore up their town.

Locals in rural Tylertown have said they have felt let down and abandoned by the current administration since the natural disaster caused carnage in March 2025.
    ..........................................
Several of the red-state residents said they haven't seen a single federal agent in the two months since, despite the widespread carnage.

'I know President Trump said that "America First, we're gonna help our American folks first," but we haven't seen the federal folks down here,' Tylertown resident Bobby McGinnis told PBS.

fema denies NC Helene aid at levels previously approved

Trump administration denies North Carolina request for Hurricane Helene relief at level Biden approved - ABC News

The Federal Emergency Management Agency denied North Carolina's request for the agency to match 100% of the state funds for Helene cleanup, according to a letter sent from the acting FEMA administrator to the governor of North Carolina.

"After a careful and thorough review of all the information available, including that contained in your initial request for a cost share adjustment and appeal, we have concluded that an extension of the 100 percent federal cost share for debris removal and emergency protective measures, including direct federal assistance for an additional 180 days under major disaster declaration FEMA-4827-DR is not warranted," acting Administrator David Richardson wrote in the letter.

The cost-sharing request comes from a Biden administration directive to match 100% of the funds that the state puts in to share costs of the disaster cleanup after Hurricane Helene devastated the state as a Category 4 storm in September 2024.

Over 230 people were killed by the storm, with at least 72 in Buncombe County, North Carolina, alone, amid record flooding throughout western North Carolina.

FEMA head had no idea there was a hurricane season

    this is typical of MAGA

another muscled up jarhead with no clue about what he is supposed to be doing putting people's lives at risk

Trump’s new FEMA head stuns staff by telling them he didn’t know US had a hurricane season, report says | The Independent

The recently installed head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency alarmed staff members on Monday when he reportedly said he was unaware that the U.S. has a hurricane season, which formally began on June 1.

The reported comments are the latest sign of upheaval at the federal disaster-management agency, which the Trump administration says it wants to “eliminate,” handing many of its responsibilities to state governments.

The comments from David Richardson, who has been overseeing FEMA since May, came during a briefing with staff members, Reuters reports, citing four sources familiar with his comments.

this admin keeps doubling down on stupid expecting people to actually believe he was joking

Karoline Leavitt's wild response when asked about FEMA boss not knowing about hurricane season - The Mirror US

"Can you speak to how the president is planning to have the level of support, should it be needed, to be as it has been with the reduction in the workforce, and is he still comfortable with Administrator Richardson, who had talked, whether joking or not, about not being aware of a hurricane season for this country? What is the president's level of briefings on what may be required? If you could give us kind of an overall update on that," O'Donnell asked.

Leavitt's first response was to call the reporting on Richardson's comments "sloppy and irresponsible," stating, "Well, of course, we know that we are into hurricane season now, and I know FEMA is taking this seriously, contrary to some of the reporting we have seen based on jokes that were made and leaks from meetings."

Richardson said during a briefing with staff on Monday that he didn't know the U.S. had an annual hurricane season, CBS News reported, citing three people familiar with the meeting. He's only been in the position since May and has actively supported President Donald Trump's desires to eliminate the agency altogether and return the responsibility of emergency management to the states.

The comments were said to fluster staffers, who have already seen hundreds of firings, layoffs and resignations as well as leadership overhauls and polygraph tests that were distributed to staff members. Many said Richardson didn't appear to be joking and seemed genuinely surprised that hurricane season had started.

Richardson is my nominee for the Michael Brown award for excellence in emergency management. For those who do not recall, Michael Brown was the Administrator of FEMA during the administration of President George W. Bush. He had no experience in emergency management and his job prior to his appointment by Bush was as the head of an Arabian Horse organization. He was an effective Republican donor and fund raiser however.

Did you read the article or watch the clip? The tools they use to forecast are being taken away. Weather balloon launches are down by nearly 20 percent and there currently isn’t full funding for Hurricane Hunter flights, which are critical for predictive data. Without those, you aren’t getting an accurate forecast. It’s going to cost lives, and he knows, and I’m sure the reason he is speaking out beyond welfare concern, is that when the forecasts miss a major storm this year he and the other meteorologists will be the ones blamed. Because heaven forbid this abomination of an admin is ever held responsible for anything.
