I can certainly identify with MW’s mom being frustrated. My emotions have certainly gotten the best of me at times on this very forum. I imagine the emotions of an actual parent of a player are multiplied by a factor of hundreds. That said this should have absolutely remained behind closed doors. She’s basically handed a recruiting tool for all the competition out there to use against the program. Hopefully this was just frustration boiling over and nothing more but I’m officially concerned. Usually where there’s smoke there’s at least some degree of fire. On a more humorous note s**t missile is a new one for me, gonna have to find a way to apply that in my day to day conversations lol. Oh as far as what she said about recruiting well that’s college sports unless your name is Dan Mullen. Recruiting never stops, Tennessee is still in it and already has three from the portal.
I had a small conversation with Mia this morning on Facebook messenger. I asked her about this summer and this was her response: “Hey! I’m actually taking the summer off from games to really lock in on workouts and skill training. Just trying to elevate every part of my game before fall ball starts back up. Gotta stay ready!” What I got out of this is that she recognizes her deficiencies and wants to improve. I am hoping we see an improved Mia this fall and next spring.
I’m baffled also. I’m a believer that there’s more to the sport than just statistics and CTW must have been praying to get the kind of performance Kara had vs TAMU earlier in the season. Obviously that didn’t happen and the statistics show that kind of performance was unlikely. I feel there had to be a better option in the most important game of the season. Unfortunately the game was over in the blink of an eye. Gut feelings aren’t always correct I guess. Also hindsight is always 20/20 lol.
I dont think in the end it mattered. We were not there mentally in OKC. Jsut seemed off. If anything i wouldve liked to have seen Red start.
A heads up for those reasonably close to Gainesville. Georgia Impact Premier-Taylor is playing in the Show Me The Money tournament in Newberry this weekend. We have three kids on that team heading our way. Shyla Bahr is #11. Avery Killian is #20. Leah Stevens is #32. For the rest of us I'm trying to find out if it is streamed anywhere. Edit: I'm an idiot...we have a fourth player on the team...Nina Carcone #2. Haven't found any streaming yet.
Yeah, he answered around the actual question in my opinion. Its not so much that anyone is questioning why he didnt go with Keagan, I think a lot of us were expecting Ava or possibly Red, it's the fact that he went past 3 better, safer pitchers and went with Kara instead. I don't mean any disrespect to Kara, she strikes batters out well, but nowhere near consistently enough to be the starting pitcher against a team like Tennessee in the wcws! That's the question is think the interviewer was asking!
Agreed. I’m so accustomed to early to mid conference struggles but also accustomed to the team getting hot and firing on all cylinders heading into the postseason. For whatever reason that just didn’t happen this season. Unable to sustain any momentum. I could be wrong but I’m not sure the team ever strung more than three consecutive conference wins together this season.
Ouch! I have seen posts to fans from Mia's mum before and she doesn't pull her punches. I understand where she's coming from, and her sentiment isnt wrong. I just hope she hasnt caused trouble for Mia by being so public about her feelings. That said, I don't disagree with her. I've heard different rumblings, not to do with recruiting, but about certain people and their treatment/attitude towards some of the girls. Which is why some of my previous posts have been agreeing with posters who have commented on their gut feeling that something is off.
Lol, I do it all the time with my fat fingers, so if you ever see me reacting with something that seems off, I guarantee I was trying to hit the nice reaction button next to it
It’s ok I have fat thumb syndrome also. I’m actually looking into a thumb specific form of ozempic lol.
Old news mate lol, literally minutes old. Let’s just hope it’s not the beginning of a snowball rolling downhill.
I’ve seen the story about her Mom starting the Duke program on ESPN. In there they related to her Dad’s serious health probems which include a heart and kidney transplants. I thought then that I would not be surprises if Layla would transfer to Duke to be close to her Mom and Dad during these trying times for the family.
