Not surpised. Don't think she has the height for 1b and I dont see beating any of our outfielders. Thought her bat might come around but Walton said during the season that she has power but not the consistency piece. Ive heard many rumblings of her being like Sam Roe was. Highly rated younger in her career but didnt really keep improving.

 

We'll see how many more are coming

 

Layla was the #4 rated player by MaxPreps in last year's recruiting class and committed to the Gators as a 6th grader. She obviously saw things weren't going to work out for her in Gainesville as she hoped, so has to do what's best for her. Layla's sister plays for UCLA and her Mom is the coach at Duke. Good luck to her except when she plays UF.

 

I thought that 2 days ago but I have since calmed down and feel a lot better about our odds to retain players

 

I wonder how solid Gabi is. I've assumed she'll be the starting ss next year. But I didn't realize she had a boyfriend at OSU. She seems really happy and gator loving so I dont think so but there sure a lot of rumors going round.

 

I sure hope it’s only rumors. I also assumed she starts at SS next season. There’s such a positive and infectious energy about her and I was looking forward to watching her play the next few seasons.

 

With the departure of the seniors and Lamar, roster stands at 16 now for next year thus far. I imagine Walton grabs 2-4 players from the portal.

 

This would make Mia's Mama's head explode.

 

Maybe our SS and Gabi at 2b?

At least, he has told us numerous times he like a roster of 20-21.

 

Any Shoemakers in the incoming class? I know. they don't come a long very often, just hoping.

These 4 are our signing class for this year and 2 of them enrolled early (Shaw & Bellaire) and were on this year's Gator roster. None of the 4 were listed in any of the elite-type rankings that I've seen, although Stevens had an excellent year pitching for her high school. If we're going to get any big time players for the 2026 team it's going to have to come via the portal, IMO.

 

Arizona just lost one of their stud outfiielders

 

Not that we need another outfielder.... because im hoping Cassidy finally has her shot. But that would be a great pickup. I bet she winds up somewhere along the lines of Arkansas or Tennesee.

 

I hate this free agency thing.
