The victims showed injuries consistent with burns, he said, which corresponded with the first emergency calls for fire. At least one victim had potentially life-threatening injuries, he said. Federal Bureau of Investigation director Kash Patel said on Sunday that the agency was investigating the incident as a targeted terror attack. Chief Redfearn said it was too early to know if there was a specific person or group singled out for the attack. There was a peaceful event happening at the time organized by a group of people calling for the release of hostages held by Hamas, he said. “Next thing I saw was big flames, from behind me. There was a woman on fire, and people rushing to try and help her, and other people had flames on their legs,” Unger said. She said several members in her group were injured, including one who is a Holocaust survivor.
For those without access to WSJ here are a couple other sources I found: 'Hate-fueled' madman launches 'targeted terror attack' at Israeli hostages' event in Boulder, Colorado Multiple people set on fire in attack during Colorado pro-Israeli march, police say
It’s awful for sure, and just more evidence if facts are as stated of what I’ve been saying about Jews being targeted out in the open now. But I am just always struck by how we so badly want to define a criminal attack as terror or not. A crime is a crime. If this person tried to kill someone because they don’t like people who drive Teslas, or people who wear fedoras, or just because they were angry and needed to take it out on someone, is it any better?
Do we badly want to define criminal acts as terror attacks? It seems a tiny % & I can certainly see why this is being scrutinized as a terror attack.
If it’s politically motivated (whether race, religion, or anti-govt) it’s terror. Esp if aimed at random civilians. I get what you are saying that a serious crime is a serious crime, but I have no issue with escalated sentences on top of that for hate crimes/terror. Throwing a Molotov is bad enough when it’s vandalism, but aimed at a person it becomes attempted murder imo.
I could be wrong, I am not expert, but....without the terror designation, the federal authorities would not have jurisdiction. And, since Colorado abolished the death penalty, you better believe that Trump and his goons like Kash Patel are going to use every avenue to put to death anyone yelling "Free Palestine" while attacking a predominantly Jewish crowd.
I believe that you are correct, but hate crimes do not usually carry the death penalty. Federal terror charges would likely be much more in order for the death penalty??
Sadly Colorado gets its share of high profile tragedies. Columbine (15), Dark Knight Theater shooting (12), LGBT club shooting at Club Q (10), King Soopers shooting (10), now this.
Well, it looks like we had an unvetted extremist come into our country and overstayed his visa, they should do the same to his sick ass
An Egyptian terrorist shouting Free Palestine while using a flamethrower to kill Israelis. I think that qualifies for CECOT.
It might be good to at least link to an article with the info you are claiming.. I know it’s out there but to keep this thread from getting to bogged down and too off the rails.. maybe a link when offering new info.
