More details on the attack on Russian airfields. Ukraine put drones into wooden sheds or shipping containers, had them sent into Russia, and the roof panels were lifted off the sheds by remote-controlled mechanism, allowing the drones to attack. Ukraine claims that 41 aircraft at 4 air bases were hit. Ukraine set a record by conducting a drone attack from over 2600 miles away. This war gets a little more expensive for Russia.

I can’t verify the numbers but I’ve seen both the video of the drones leaving the containers (filmed by Russians) and video from drones showing attacks on the strategic bombers. One drone by itself blew the wing off one their bombers. Several others were on fire.

I don't know. The ambush on Russian tanks in Kursk was pretty impressive. But, yeah, Putin had a bad day.

If the reports of 40 to 41 aircraft are confirmed, and they are strategic bombers, Ukraine just knocked out 34% of the Russian nuclear strategic bomber fleet. These aircraft are also used to launch large explosive bomb and missile payloads, at the Ukranian front line.

This is quite significant in that Russia does not even manufacture these aircraft at present.

They also have just caused a massive internal security problem, and this attack will create a strain on security measures for the Russian transportation and logistics system, in addition to shaking civilian morale.

This may be the most significant setback for Russia since the initial retreat from Kiev at the start of the "special police action".

I am a math guy, if the 1.5 billion number is right on the cost of this attack for Russia, that’s 1/1500 of their annual gdp gone in a day. Certainly not a death knell, but a pretty solid hit, it would be like us losing nearly 20 billion in equipment in a day. And that’s before the tactical and logistical implications of what they lost.

The number of planes destroyed is likely hugely exaggerated

Some reports, including Ukranian sources, are using a 7 billion dollar figure. There are also reports of a Russian Naval base being hit, with reports of explosions and smoke, although no specific reports or drone footage of what was actually hit, such as buildings, ships or subs has been released, just some social media vids that are not very revealing or informative, they just show smoke rising in the distance from the base.

They drove these crates full of drones across the country or hired/bribed a trucking company to do so? Not a single one searched and found out. Bribe money well spent.

I heard one truck did not make it to its destination because it broke down, in China? I am not sure of the veracity of this report. Information is still some what sketchy so far.

Interestingly some sources suggest there may be other truck containers out there that have not deployed drones yet, although this seems a bit unlikely in that Russian authorities would be expected to be on high alert, and the element of surprise no longer exists.

I think that Ukraine has sympathizers on the Russian side of the border, some of whom are willing to risk their lives and help with this sort of attack.

The authoritarians in Russia have no problem shooting the messenger, or in this case the drivers.

I imagine we will hear about some trucking Co. Executives accidentally falling off 10 story balconies shortly.
