As usual, wingtee and a few others with points that some on here view as blasphemy. The Gator Radio guys, Cardozo and Russell, talked throughout the game about how ECU executed a perfect game plan. Starting with the fundamentals. Situational hitting, errorless in the field, and above average pitching will win you a lot of games. When was the last time you felt a Gator team did that? Swinging from your heels for HR's isn't an offensive strategy. Too often, it leads to giving away more than a third of your outs. Let this sink in, the Gators had more K's (11) than hits (9) yesterday. Which isn't an anomaly. Unfortunately, I don't see that approach ever changing with 7 at the helm. And, to preemptively address an argument from the ride or die fans, making the field of (64) in baseball is fools gold. At best, it should be half that field. An oversized field is 100% about NCAA and TV money. Beating Fairfield, assuming that happens later today, isn't something to write home about.

    Go Gators!

With fishing you can keep your IPA and cigar both going at the same time.

Nobody hates the high level of K's more than me, lord knows I've posted it enough. BUT, uf is far from alone in that category...and its generally the way the game is played these days. Swinging from your heels is a strategy, I loathe it but see it everywhere.
And yes, making the field of 64 isn't overly impressive. But are we really forgetting where the team ended up the last two seasons? Short memory
As for playing defense, remove veteran all conference type players at catcher, ss, 2b, and cf from any team in the country and let me know how they look. I think we both know that result
I don't think Sully built his best team this year....but almost everyone was thrilled we landed Cyr and Jones and Boser, spent $$ to get Evans and Shelton back. Lot of that just hasn't worked out

Spot on @apkgator — Boser’s earned his keep, everybody else not so much.

Yes, but that made Liam (and Luke) pitch as badly as he did and we stopped trying to hit until much later? We scored enough runs. I don't think "errors" was a significant reason for the scoring difference. JMHO

Yep. It is just too damn bad that we had to play in such an incompetent conference as the SEC. If we had played in ECU's conference, we would have been sufficiently prepared for the post-season. DAMMIT!

OR...maybe their hitters were inspired to play against a "legacy" program and mainly with a lot of fans attending and they had a VERY crafty pitcher who did his job...until he didn't. AND perhaps our starting pitcher wasn't very good and they were prepared to take advantage.

But go ahead and you do you...
