I guess you could say we made the Elite 8. That's good. But man, we just didn't seem to be present in OKC.

 

Overall an utterly embarrassing performance in OKC. Had a lot of returning talent from a year ago, that just did not have very good seasons.

 

Gonna miss some of these players that we’ve been watching… falby for sure

 

The program does need to make some adjustments in selecting players for the future though.

Tough way to end the season.

 

We haven’t had slam dunk lock down pitching since we went B2B. Until we put up Canady type NIL to acquire a super quality pitcher, we will remain competitive but not able to make a concerted run for a natty.

Now, hitting is another problem. If we have consistent trouble with sinkers and rise balls, as we have had, that’s what is being thrown against us when we make it to Oklahoma City. Time for a new hitting coach. It’s insanity to continue on the same path that is only constant in its failure to achieve!

 

Disappointed cause it felt like this was our best chance at a title in awhile with Oklahoma finally showing they were at least mortal. We’re losing some key offensive players and our pitching is still shaky going forward. Other than Shumaker, our young freshmen didn’t really get many at bats this year.

 

I would agree we had good offensive talent, however our pitching team ERA for the year was 14th in the SEC (3rd from the bottom). Overall, batting and pitching, our talent was maybe average. I really enjoyed this team and i give they gave a good effort. Nothing you can do when you can't get the opposing team out of their inning.

I'm of the opinion that Coach Walton needs to re-evaluate the direction they are going in acquiring talent. Maybe place a little more emphasis on pitching in the portal.

 

I am in no means a veteran hitting coach, but the approach of getting 2 strikes before we start swinging is mind boggling. Like I tell my 15 yo that’s a pitcher also, your best chance to get a hittable pitch is early in the count. As a pitcher if you get up 0-2 I’m throwing crap until it’s 2-2.

 

Our offense of walks and HBP is not a winnable strategy against elite teams
