I am hearing that Customs is not going to follow the ruling and will attempt to steal money from US consumers still with this illegal tax. Just a rumor but that is what is coming from people on the ground.

Appeals court has issued an emergency stay for the moment. So, back on again, I guess.

imagine actually trying to plan your business with this shit.

Yep. Its a zoo. Our suppliers have agreed to ship us under the higher costs and will let us bill them back if they get waived. The prices are still going up as of now. Insane.

"More than 70% of U.S. small and mid-sized businesses say tariffs have already increased their operating costs — but almost all still expect to be able to grow internationally in the coming years, per a new HSBC survey shared exclusively with Axios.

The responses also indicate that businesses are moving to do two things the Trump administration wants to see happening — adopting new technologies (like AI) and re-shoring. 44% say they're looking at moving production domestically, while 64% are adopting new digital technologies or platforms."

It's not really a matter of whether its his right to decide where things are made--it's incredibly foolish to try to make everything here. For many things, no one besides the multi-millionaires will be able to afford them. The damage to the economy will be extreme, even if an intelligent president is elected in 3.5 years and stops the tariffs. By then, Trump will have forced manufacturers to start construction of new factories that make products that no one can afford, and they will have to eat that loss when the next president reverses the policy. Trump is taking a sledgehammer to the economy.

Besides, where does Trump think he's going to get the workers for all these factories (especially after chasing out all the immigrants)? Unemployment is very low now, so there aren't that many potential employees available. There are lots of people that are not cut out for shift work, much less shift work in a factory. Quality will go down, and force a bidding war for capable employees, and that will drive up prices even higher.

reshoring due to protectionism destroys wealth. But it sounds good.

And now he is claiming that steel tariffs are back to 50%...I guess we hadn't had a major change to tariffs in a week, so it was overdue. I wonder if it will make it through the weekend unlike last Friday's tariffs.

Trump's tariffs are approved by only 37% of Americans, with 63% disapproving. Karl Rove, the GOP strategist, predicts that democrats will win Congress in 2026. Then it's game over for Trump.

GOP strategist makes stunning prediction for Trump Republicans

    Make the world suck again.

Donald Trump's tariffs will hurt global growth, OECD warns

Global economic growth is set to be slower this year largely because of Donald Trump's US tariffs, according to a leading international policy group.

Worldwide growth is now expected to slow to a "modest" 2.9%, down from a previous forecast of 3.1%, said the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

It blamed a "significant" rise in trade barriers for the downgrade and warned that "weakened economic prospects will be felt around the world, with almost no exception".

If Trump continues to pursue his tariff policy that may only be the beginning with this quote from from the philosopher George Santayana comes to mind:
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” – George Santayana, The Life of Reason, 1905.

This is what happened following the enactment of the Smoot Hawley Tariff Act and Trump is putting the US and the world economy on the road to a redux of the early 1930s:
U.S. imports decreased 66% from $4.4 billion (1929) to $1.5 billion (1933), and exports decreased 61% from $5.4 billion to $2.1 billion. US gross national product fell from $103.1 billion in 1929 to $75.8 billion in 1931 and bottomed out at $55.6 billion in 1933.[21] Imports from Europe decreased from a 1929 high of $1.3 billion, to $390 million in 1932. U.S. exports to Europe decreased from $2.3 billion in 1929 to $784 million in 1932. Overall, world trade decreased by some 66% between 1929 and 1934.[22]

But , According to the thread title, this was “finalized” 4 months ago…. Should a mod edit this thread title to make it true and correct?
