That's wonderful. But this was basically the same team that made the Final 4 last year. And just making it and being embarrassed in two games was not the goal.
Well I have said it before, the type of athletes we have recruited lately has hid the fact how bad of a hitting coach Thomas is. Walton brought in two of his close buddies and they have not produced. With the talent we have, we should not be in this situation.
Smart decision by UT. Save pitches on Pickens' arm. Will face the UCLA/Tech loser, then probably OU again.
Rothrock was that shutdown pitcher but since her injury in highschool she has never been able to get back to her old self. She has had to rely on her spin more
Here's a post I made in the Ongoing Softball Conversation Forum post OU series win in early May. To be fair to any previous posters. Hindsight is always 20/20. This team has some flaws that, for example, last years didn't have. I'd go so far as to suggest in a five game head to head matchup, 2024 wins four out of five games. Especially with how the 2024 team peaked at the perfect time. Let's all hope the 2025 team does as well. Then we can all reflect on our in the moment emotion inspired comments and laugh. As my dad used to say "winners tell jokes, and losers say deal the cards". A few posts later. I went thru the 2024 starters and the 2025 starters. I believe it solidified my thinking. The bacon from sandman70 hasn't aged well.
Walton is still a great coach, arguably/probably the second best coach in this sport. But just like Alabama under Saban was the standard in CFB, Oklahoma is the standard in softball. Gasso is the best coach, has the best hitting coach, has the best pitching coach, and gets the best pitcher from the portal every offseason. We need to figure out a way to get close to their level.
