I meant in their respective games. Getting shut out by a 6 seed as the 3 seed is not good. You disagree?

Not sure if can disagree more.
A tough loss in the world series vs the 6th overall seed....a team that spent time at #1.....vs trailing 9-0 in the 3rd against a 3 seed in a regional? Is this really a question?
For comparison, the softball team swept their regional. Winning every game by run rule. Disagree may not be strong enough lol

As you well know you cannot have an effective slider when the shoulders are moving horizontal and not a least some semblance of a vertical mechanism. I had a below average slider because I forced myself to go horizontal. My mechanics were over the top and tried to drive shoulder , head , belt buckle, knee and toe to my location . It was great for my curveball but not great for the slider . Yet my pitching coach kept pounding my frisbee as an effective pitch .. ok enough of that.

Gotta pitch your best and King is our best. Have said it all year. Can’t worry about hurting feelings. Now, it’ll take a miracle to win a regional we should have won.
And if we win our next one Liam can easily pitch Sunday with a chance of redeeming himself. 46 pitches at this time of year is 1 day.

Just watched, wow, did we not pitch well. Gotta strategic tomorrow. If we plan to win the regional can’t go with King. Gotta save him for game 3. Tough thing is saving your best pitcher for the third game is not usually a recipe for winning.

Liam did not have it. Shocking in such a big game opportunity.

The season (with already a loss in the Regional) hangs in the balance of the game tomorrow. Are you really saying that you want to save your best for the bus ride home?

I don’t know what to think or say…

It appears they did. Worse start than the baseball game. It’s on Walton for starting Hammock

Sully will go with King but to your point why did we not pitch our best today? Why go with your second best in a very important game?

Numbers/Data easily tell us King is our best pitcher and, he doesn’t let the little things bother him.

Playing scared of 2 and Q I get it but if it’s Fairfield we should be able to beat them with Barlow and Barbieri.

I'll be the dissenter here. If you want to win one game, pitch King (no matter the opponent). If you want to win 4 games, make sure you pitch King against the next of ECU or Coastal. It stands to reason that King is a guy that gives you an edge in a tough situation. If that tough situation is against Fairfield, then you never had any hope of advancing. If you're going to advance, you have to have a game where you dominate one of the opponents. That game of domination is most likely to be against Fairfield of the three options. Don't waste your ace (yes, I get the risk...but you're playing to win 4, not 1).

    Go GATORS!

I get what you are saying and mean WES—and I agree we are playing to win 4. But because of our effort (or lack of effort) today with one loss under our belt and only one loss to go we are squarely in the position of having to win 4 games one game at the time. It’s no longer “what we would like it to be” it’s what is necessary to stay alive. It’s just that simple.

Great post. Agree 100%. Play the long game and have faith in your guys. We are in this position because we did not pitch our best (King) and now here we are.

Sometimes personal gets put in front of objective/factual/data with some responding. The facts are King is our number 1 and long game says trust your guys to be able to beat Fairfield if that’s who is next and by trusting your guys, I mean Barlow, Barbieri, Pierce. By putting Barlow, Barbieri, Pierce ( not in that order) out there against Fairfield, you’re saying “I trust you guys now go do this”. Shows confidence and faith in your team instead of playing scared and pitching your best (King) against Fairfield.

If CCU loses we throw King if they win you do not throw him. That simple.

Gotta pitch the right guy-that simple. Great teams don’t go status quo. By pitching Liam over King we continue to go status quo. Liam still learning and impacted by too many small things. King has shown moxy and make up and the stats don’t lie 6-2 2.76 era vs Liam at 8-3 with 4.11 era.

    If CCu then King
If Fairfield then Barlow to Barbieri or maybe Pierce first.
