    Somewhere in Time
From an acquaintance in Germany this AM:

(Yes) time heals wounds and allows us to survive Covid and such self-serving idiots!

In Augsburg there were the Fuggers 500 years ago, they were richer than the whole Trump Musk clique, they at least founded the oldest social settlement that still exists today!

Let's see what's left of Trump - his grandfather was Austrian and because Austria ceded the Palatinate to Bavaria under Metternich, the Austrian became a Bavarian! These Austrians were not very well regarded in Bavaria, they were considered unreliable and subversive!

Trump's grandfather then emigrated to what was then the USA and earned 200,000 dollars with a hotel and brothel! With this he returned to the Palatinate and married his neighbor's daughter and was a respected citizen in the small wine-growing village of Kallstadt (in Kallstadt a neighbor of Trump was the Heinz family (tomato baron) - he emigrated to the USA 2 years before Trump's grandfather and remained there successfully)! However, as he had avoided military service by emigrating, he did not receive a residence permit and had to emigrate back to the USA!

From a letter written in 1905 by Friedrich Trump, Donald Trump’s grandfather, to Luitpold, prince regent of Bavaria. Trump had been ordered to leave Bavaria for failing to complete mandatory military service and to register his initial emigration to the United States twenty years earlier. Prince Luitpold rejected Trump’s request for repatriation; the family later settled in New York. Translated from the German by Austen Hinkley.

Most Serene, Most Powerful Prince Regent! Most Gracious Regent and Lord!

I was born in Kallstadt on March 14, 1869. My parents were honest, plain, pious vineyard workers. They strictly held me to everything good — to diligence and piety, to regular attendance in school and church, to absolute obedience toward the high authority.

After my confirmation, in 1882, I apprenticed to become a barber. I emigrated in 1885, in my sixteenth year. In America I carried on my business with diligence, discretion, and prudence. God’s blessing was with me, and I became rich. I obtained American citizenship in 1892. In 1902 I met my current wife. Sadly, she could not tolerate the climate in New York, and I went with my dear family back to Kallstadt.

The town was glad to have received a capable and productive citizen. My old mother was happy to see her son, her dear daughter-in-law, and her granddaughter around her; she knows now that I will take care of her in her old age.

But we were confronted all at once, as if by a lightning strike from fair skies, with the news that the High Royal State Ministry had decided that we must leave our residence in the Kingdom of Bavaria. We were paralyzed with fright; our happy family life was tarnished. My wife has been overcome by anxiety, and my lovely child has become sick.

Why should we be deported? This is very, very hard for a family. What will our fellow citizens think if honest subjects are faced with such a decree — not to mention the great material losses it would incur. I would like to become a Bavarian citizen again.

In this urgent situation I have no other recourse than to turn to our adored, noble, wise, and just sovereign lord, our exalted ruler His Royal Highness, highest of all, who has already dried so many tears, who has ruled so beneficially and justly and wisely and softly and is warmly and deeply loved, with the most humble request that the highest of all will himself in mercy deign to allow the applicant to stay in the most gracious Kingdom of Bavaria.

    Your most humble and obedient,

    Friedrich Trump

Apparently the Trump family never got over their deportation for avoiding military service - we are living with the results today.

How history turns on one man's inability to follow laws... another inherited trait of our current President.

From draft dodgers to pimps, to mob associates, to Russian money launderers, to a twice-impeached President who presided over 1 million US deaths during COVID with his incompetence, to the most corrupt President in history.

It's like watching the de-evolution of man next to the evolution of a super predator in real time.

That he co-opted the weak-minded to participate in his crime family's rise because the black President made them feel their imagined loss of social standing is just the tragedy in it all.

Self-aware, self-reliant, self-secure people didn't blink an eye when someone with different skin color was President, only MAGA folks who thought a high-school education and connections to industrial jobs that left 40 years ago would help secure themselves a comfortable life in this day and age.

Just the mention of Austria makes me laugh because of something I got away with when I was young and stupid. It was the summer of 1969 and I was on a student tour of Europe. We were going by train from Munich to Switzerland. There happened to be some political issues going on at the time and they told us to be sure we had our passports ready when we went through the check point going into Austria. One of the girls on the tour was freaking out because she couldn't find her passport. I can't believe I talked her into it but when the train stopped at the checkpoint and the customs & immigrations guys boarded, me and the young lady climbed into a sleeping unit and crawled up under the covers on the bed. When they knocked then opened the door we pretended to be making love. LOL we got through the checkpoint without having our passports checked and I got a little touchy feely on the side.

Similar story except my wife and I were put into a sleeper compartment for 4 in Switzerland in 2008 for a night trip to Berlin with two men we didn't know.

As if on cue, a conductor appeared, who for a small fee (bribe) got us our own compartment with 4 beds.

We proceeded to "explore the space", as they say.

A lot of bad can be said about our idiot president. 1 million Covid deaths is not one of the. That is just false.

400k before he left office, 1M a year after he left office - all due to the fact he didn't take the pandemic seriously at all and seemed to want to wish it away.

Biden was never going to be able to change that trajectory in 1 year.

Plus, 400k is definitely underreporting and should be significantly higher due to factors like inadequate testing and misattribution of deaths early on.

Guess Trump shouldn't have dismantled our early warning system for pandemics and the White House Pandemic Response team, because the name of the game in a pandemic to stop it at the source quickly, like other competent Presidents with more melanin in their skin and brains in their head managed to do.

"Our early warning system for pandemics". Would that be CNN or MSNBC or the NYT?

Look, Trump pushed for a vaccine. He didnt Ignore it, but no potus was going to stop it.

And I thought we had moved past the underreporting stuff. I think it may be safer to say we were over reporting as in many places dying with Covid...even if you were dying anyway... was considered a covid death.

But regardless, as someone who said on this board that Trump lost the election because of his bad response, to say he did not take it seriously is false

Well if it isnt true now his behavior with vaccination, medical research and cutting off funding to the poor at home and in impoverished countries will increase that number ten fold and fairly quick. The saddest part is he couldnt care less. Here is a nice link which looks at those consequences.

Well it certainly wont be coming from Fox since they will probably be running private infomercials raving about the quality and price of groceries in Moscow.

I mean he did push for a quick vax.

Regardless my point isnt to defend him rather for us all to be honest in saying no one really knew what to do. Especially that first year.

So technically (according to some) that TRUMP VACCINE....read it again....TRUMP VACCINE. The big beautiful TRUMP VACCINE the likes of which the world has ever seen has already killed millions of people. I cant believe Orange Karen Taco Jesus was so proud of HIS (I'll give him that credit) vaccine which he tricked us into taking for a made up virus.

Keep in mind: This is coming from a person who really believed Elon Musk was going to help "reinvent government".

It's OK, you weren't alone on that count - all of the fine folks that liked your post made the same mistake!

Quite a black-eye there for all of you AND Elon!

Question: How does it feel to go through life being so gullible that gimps like Trump and Musk can play you gumps like a fiddle?
