Another nice run by Men's Golf. It seems as if their a national mainstay. Another solid Gator athletic program.
Congrats to the team, great effort. Future is bright. Okla st beats ole Miss in o/t to take the other spot. ( If anybody cares)
Match play or stroke play to decide the NCAA Championship? We have some strong thoughts Good read.. And my answer to this is a question.. Would you rather have made for tv drama or find the best team? Easy answer IMO. but every college post season on tv is made for tv, not to find best team..IMO Stanford w golf this year is a real good reason to get rid of match play(mentioned in article) If must have individual matches to determine a team champ, why not just have 5 stroke play matches.. As much or more drama IMO. But I doubt they change anything anytime soon if at all.
I absolutely love match play....wouldn't mind adding a round and cutting stroke play to one cut at 16 teams Stroke play is a nice format to determine individual champions
Im oppossite. id be ok w/ match play to determine individual champ..lol but would still prefer stroke play for that. Or how about 2 days of individual play, 1 day of each, let all 6 play in one of them, for total of 11 pts?? Just dont think matchplay remotely finds best team/player.. that Stanford thing is crazy,, won every tourn in season, win nationals by 29,,but not champs.lol just seems silly to me. I think the match play format started same year golf ch. started covering it..probably not a coincidence. Ive become anti post season in everything though. As far as determining 'best team', mainly due to college formats. Still fun to watch/gamble on, but after a full season I personally dont need it to tell me who best tteam is the majority of the time.. And all have too many teams(auto bids, etc)
