With weather like that who the hell do we throw… almost feels like start a bullpen guy till we know we’re in the clear and then run out one of our three starters (including pierce in this). And they’ve got to fit two games in on Friday… smh
We can win this regional but will need to be creative pitching wise, get good quality at bats, and have some luck with the weather. Creative- as you said gotta be careful burning a pitcher that’s warmed up and started pitching and lost to a hour delay. Again, lucky might be better word than careful.
TBA is the man for the job; a big part of getting us right in the latter half of the season. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Hey, weather forecasts 4 days out are not very accurate, so let's relax. Plan to pitch Peterson and come out strong and gain control of the game early on. East Carolina has had a solid progrem in recent years but this year they have a 66 RPI and squeezed into the NCAA tournament by winning their conference tournament against the likes of USF (twice), Charlotte, and Tulane.
Good point. I rememeber the USF game well- the Gators were flat - it was a Tuesday game between the sweep at USCe and the Texas series and most of the UF players seemed to be going through the motions. Point taken: come out with fire-in-the-belly and play as if every pitch matters. Take no team lightly- especially in post-season.
Sorry for the excess bravado, but if we plausibly win the regional and somehow Auburn loses theirs to NC State, who would be hosting, us or NC State? I would like to think we are a higher ranked #2 than them. Flip a coin? Probably not going to happen. I meant NC State winning. Obviously...
The committee chooses the host... and given our history and just simply being better this year... I'd bank on a Gainesville Super Regional if Auburn loses
Plus, it doesn't hurt that UF has a bigger stadium- best I can find is NCS is roughly 3k. Nice new stadium, but Gators would pull 8k+. Enables UF to make a more attractive bid.
Their pitcher Norby is solid. I believe he is 75 this year with 109 strikeouts in 82 innings and he doesn’t walk guys. Was really good as a freshman also. We will have to have quality of bats against him. We cannot have giveaways i.e., lots of strikeouts, not moving runners over, not getting the bunt down.
Not worried about opponents and we all know USF is solid. ECU has traditionally been a very good tune, and there are nothing to sneeze at as a three seed. I think we have one of the toughest 3 seed games in the whole tournament
