Not seeing this at all. If anything, a sprint in the other direction. This belief that the "experts are bad" is at the core of MAGA insanity. "Expert" = "Liberal" in their world. We're talking about people who can't grasp the difference between the use of the word "Liberal" in Liberal Democracy from its use as a political pejorative. They hear the word and their tiny brains start spinning with conspiracy theories and all kinds of wacko crap.

It will help a little. In the past, when you gave a $20, it was as if you left nothing as far as the ownership/IRS are concerned. Just straight in the server's pocket. But they made a change (I think under Obama or Trump 1.0) that owners have to declare a percentage (I think 15%) of gross sales no matter what. So, I'm guessing this will put it back to the old way, where she can just stick that straight in her pocket and only have to declare credit card tips.

Edit: When he says he's going to "eliminate taxes on tips", this is what he's talking about. A lot of people in the business were annoyed (and cost money) by that rule and I personally would favor removing it and going after the Elons of the world for that additional tax revenue.

Whatever happened to simplifying the tax code and making returns easier for the average guy. This bill does just the opposite and creates more winners and losers.

    What qualifies as a tip?
Qualifying tips are also limited to those that are considered cash payments, which includes currency but also those paid by credit card or other means. It does not include noncash items like tickets, gifts or services.

Trump is doing his part to not only save a few dollars from government spending which can then be gifted to billionaires in the form of tax cuts, but also doing the dirty work. Specifically, the dirty work of helping small children to drown. He has cut spending on an agency that analyzes drowning deaths of small children, and makes recommendations to prevent it from happening again. Trump is not putting up with that. If the children are going to get in the water, then let 'em drown. As long as Don, Jr. is old enough to put on his arm floaties, then Trump has prevented all of the drowning deaths that he needs to. The rest of you are on your own.

Trump laid off CDC team that helped keep kids safe in the water

Yeah, exempting tips are just a small part of this laughable tax scheme. A very small part, which is worth noting is not a permanent exemption. As usual, Trump scammed some people for votes while he steals a lot more for himself and the rich by making their tax cuts permanent.

Income Tax Exemption: If tips were exempt from individual income taxes, the federal government could lose an estimated $110 billion over 10 years, according to the Yale Budget Lab and the Tax Foundation.

And did you have any comment on the estimated $3 trillion+ that this Republican bill is expected to add to the debt?

It's a fun replay we get to see every time we have a Republican president; deficit-funded tax cuts for the rich, and the mantra of lies that they'll pay for themselves.

It's funny, at first you say it is "a very small part: and then you turn around and say it will cost $110 billion over ten years. So is that a very small part?

Isn’t it like a $4T debt increase bill?

Relative to the estimated $3-5 trillion that the Trump/Republican bill will add to the debt? Yes, definitely a small part. And, of course, it's not permanent like the tax cuts for Trump, Musk and other rich people.

'A mugging' conducted on 99% of Americans: Inside the Republicans' 'big ugly lie'

Trump’s sweeping budget legislation has been described as the biggest Medicaid cut in U.S. history. House Republicans passed the bill early Thursday morning in a 215-214 vote. The legislation would trigger massive cuts to Medicare and Medicaid over the next 10 years, denying coverage to an estimated 7.6 million Americans, according to the Congressional Budget Office. Food assistance under the federal SNAP program would also see $300 billion in cuts, while adding billions in funding for Trump’s mass deportation agenda and giving the wealthiest Americans a tax break.

“The legislation is basically a mugging conducted by the 1% against the rest of us. It represents the single largest upward redistribution of wealth effectuated by any piece of legislation in our history,” says Chris Lehmann, D.C. bureau chief for The Nation.

This is beautiful campaign fodder - “The non partisan congressional office says that the Republican budget bill and tax cuts for the wealthy will lead to cuts in Medicare. Your Medicare is is being cut so that Elon Musk will get a tax cut”.

Also, do you notice and appreciate how in our discussions I am using figures that are estimates, but that are basically true. In other words, I'm not trying to tell you outright lies.

Don't you wish that the President of the United States had a similar commitment to the truth*? Don't you think that the American people sort of ..... deserve that?

    * See his Memorial day "truth" lie that 21 million illegal immigrants entered the USA under Biden. (and that's obviously just from statements made today)
