I hear you rick and agree but please tell me why fans are often given injury updates on football and basketball players and not the other sports.
There certainly are justifiable reasons....healthcare privacy is a very real constraint One could argue there is no justifiable reason fans need to know other than simple curiosity
It isn't just football and basketball. Gasso generally gives at least enough info to give her fans a heads up. It happens all of the time in all sports. Depends on how the program is run. An age old question at this point. You don't have to provide a complete list of details. Just a general diagnosis and vague prognosis is all that is needed. But, at least the fans and supporters have some information and don't have to speculate and start rumors the way it is now.
Totally disagree. Healthcare privacy is constantly thrown up and it is nothing but a red herring. Thousands of times, literally, in all sports information is provided. So we are one of the few programs that uses healthcare privacy as an excuse for dead silence? Sully doesn't hide information. Golden doesn't. Napier doesn't. Kelly Rae doesn't. Etc.
Lol....Napier is roasted nonstop for not giving injury info. Golden gives limited responses when directly asked. And as someone working within the confines of Hipaa legislation I can very much assure you it is not a red herring
Not really true. For instance, Lagway's health was speculated about all spring. I can think of a few baseball players that have missed time with no official explanation, etc etc.
Those wanting Deifel as the next head coach at Florida...yeah no LOL. Still can't get it done in the postseason.
Enea next imo but I don’t think anyone should be putting CTW out to pasture just yet. Imagine how much knowledge Enea is learning every day. I think she’ll be great when the time comes. I also think Deifel has a bright future in Arkansas and will be a constant irritation.
I would bet a considerable amount that when Tim Walton ever decides to retires, Francesca Enea will be the next Gator coach. But I think Tim loves what he's doing and isn't going anywhere for quite a while. With that said, I admire the job that Courtney Deifel has done at Arkansas. But their failures in the post season, especially Super Regionals at home, just show us all how hard it is to get to the WCWS and why we all should appreciate Tim Walton even more. 13 times to Oklahoma City and all since 2008. Amazing!
Agreed. She has done a great job of turning Arkansas around but has yet to make that last step. Not that easy. I said as much in a thread saying Beth Torino s/b fired and she has been to OKC 4 times.
Sometimes it is harder to meet expectations rather than over achieve. These girls met expectations and are off to Oklahoma City. Win loose or draw makes no difference for they are a fantastic group and I hope they have the time of their lives this week.
Ole Miss made Arky their old maid continuing the tradition of no Piggies ever in OKC. Led by Courtney SwanDeifel.
Since 2007 OKC: 13 times, Super Regionals (Lost in 2007, 2016, 2021): 16 times, Regionals (Lost in 2012, 2023): 18 times and 2020: Covid Year. This is a very commendable record.
I would like to see Oxley get going but I think shes done. Whether it's injury or soemthing else. Looking at the social videos she wasnt even celebrating the final out in the dugout with everybody else.
