Diplomacy is hard. Foreign relations is hard. Democracy is hard. When the going gets tough, the Donald gets going .... away from the problem.
More on why we have to fight our wars these days with other countries’ armies … The Weakness of Western Militaries & Weaponry Exposed
Another garbage source from the mouthpiece of the Kremlin. "The Ukrainian army is the biggest in NATO"? When did the Ukrainian army get inducted into NATO? The Ukrainian army has "been provided with the best training and weaponry that could be provided"? So 40-50 year-old weapons are the best weapons that the U.S. has? Everything developed since then is crap? What idiocy is this? The Leopard 2 is described as "German trash" because Ukraine lost 57 of them. What does that make Russian tanks, after Ukraine destroyed over 5,000 (various sources indicate anywhere from 4,000 to 10,000) of them (and stole 500 of them that either broke down or were immobilized)? Why do Ukrainian tank commanders always praise the western tanks and condemn the Russian tanks they use as backwards, inept, and suicidal to ride into battle? Praising the Russian tank autoloaders? The autoloader is typically rejected as unreliable and inferior technology and, if I remember correctly, slower than a fully-trained manual loader. Overall, the Russian tank is much less survivable for the crew than any western tank, if it gets hit by anything. Russian tanks are occasionally taken out by Bradley fighting vehicles, for crying out loud. Western tanks, along with artillery, missiles and just about everything else, are far more accurate than their Russian counterparts. The idea that the Kursk salient was a massive graveyard for western tanks is absurd--Ukraine orchestrated a brilliant victory in Kursk over a massive number of Russian armored vehicles, destroying hundreds of them in the process. Ukraine has about 595 western tanks and about 1960 Russian tanks. The only problem Ukraine has with western tanks is that they don't have enough of them. Then the article claims that Russia has amazing ability to manufacture new weapon systems. One problem not mentioned: Russia's ability to manufacture tanks is so pathetic that they are digging up 1950's tanks out of museums and trying to put them in service. The U.S. has only sent over 80 Abrams tanks out of the 5,000 that are in storage. Get some new sources.
Russian soldiers have started wearing anti-drone invisibility cloaks, but are typically either wearing cheap and useless cloaks, or are too ignorant to wear them correctly, and are easily spotted with their head, arms and legs sticking out of them. Anti-drone ‘invisibility cloaks’ make Russian soldiers sitting ducks
I’ve seen the videos. The other problem is that they are too “dark” so they stand out even if they’re fully covered by the cloaks.
Russia the fourth largest economy in the world by GDP PPP, now has the third highest trade surplus in the world. How ‘bout dem sanctions ?
Ukraine almost killed Putin last week. Putin was touring Kursk in a helicopter when the chopper was attacked by a drone, but the helicopter was able to fight off the drone and escape. It might be wise for Putin to travel with his long table in an extra-long helicopter in the future, so he can keep the enemy weapons away from himself. A successful drone attack could have made things interesting for Ukraine. Putin’s helicopter ‘fended off drone attack’
How 'bout your hero almost getting killed by a drone attack on his helicopter? Putin almost bought the farm in a trade surplus with a drone. You know what that would mean, don'tcha? "GAME OVER." No Russian leader following in Putin's footsteps would want to continue fighting a losing war with Ukraine as the economy collapsed. No one wants to be that guy.
A former Trump advisor says that Trump is terrified of Putin. All it took was Putin using a video presentation in 2018 showing a nuclear missile being launched at a peninsula that looked suspiciously like Florida and exploding at a location on the peninsula that looked suspiciously like West Palm Beach, and Trump crapped his pants. Advisor Fiona Hill said that Trump was visibly shaken by that presentation and been afraid of (or owned by) Putin ever since. (Question: is Trump the most cowardly U.S. president in modern history--since the invention of the atomic bomb? Or is this because his mental deficiencies prevent him from separating his responsibilities to the nation and threats to his personal property and dealing with the threat logically?) This may be why Trump is afraid to send more weapons to Ukraine. Fiona Hill: Trump is terrified of Putin, I’ve seen it first hand
No idea which troll you’re trolling, but taunting about an attack that “almost” killed Putin is precisely equal to the post in the Houthi thread trying to taunt Trump with an American carrier that “almost” got hit by a Chinese-made missile (the reality is nothing even got near close-in weapons range, but not important for my point) and precisely equal to the many times I went to the Porpoise and “almost” got lucky. Till you do it, you haven’t done it, and “almost” means almost nothing.
I apologize if this is not the time or place or thread, but this has to be one of the funnier comments I have seen in a Too Hot thread in quite some time. Thank you for that!.
I just thought it useful to point out that continuation of the Ukraine War may be highly dependent on the health of Vladimir Putin, and there is more than one way his health could take a dramatic downturn.
Oh, no doubt. I pray for his last heartbeat, and I’ll celebrate it for years. I wish the attack had succeeded. Not that we’ll ever know, but I hope the attack was close enough to scare the literal [feces] out of him, and the whole flight crew got to see first hand that his pretend tough guy image is just as fake as his PhD, his Judo black belt, and any real accomplishments he ever had in espionage. Still, odds are, since we only have the Ukrainian side, it probably wasn’t even close to successful … just like none of those Chinese missile attacks on our fleet in the Gulf of Aden were, despite how you might read otherwise in certain media.
I get the feeling Trump’s words “I don’t know what the hell has happened to him” is a dog whistle to Russian elites. “Hey, we want to make a deal, but he’s getting in the way.”
Vastly overlooked by parties who fancied we could weaken Russia via proxy war … How Russia Quietly Revolutionised Warfare
I would like to think so. I doubt it. The first question would be, a dog whistle (signal) to do what? Overthrow him? The shortest path to undermining him with his keyholders is handing Russia embarrassing losses in the field, which we seem to be reluctant to do. We have the power, for instance, to help Ukraine end that Bridge like that (snaps fingers). But Trump seems at least as reticent as Biden was, no matter how often and to what degree Putin demonstrates he has not been negotiating in good faith.
