It's common sense that a company the size of American with pretty well established maintenance procedures could not make a change in the 50+ days that Trump has been President.
You certainly could be correct. To be fair though, the possibility of this being Trump's fault is as much "common sense" as the recent airliner crash on the Potomac being the fault of DEI. I don't recall your protestations when Trump publicly said lied that. I guess my words are more important cuz I'm some guy posting on a message board, not the President of the United States?
Everything crashes under Trump. Business jet with 6 on board hit power lines before fatal crash in San Diego neighborhood https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/22/us/san-diego-plane-crash
Runway lights were out. Ground weather radar wasn't working. DOGE Fire everyone, demoralize everyone, Shit happens Duh. So simple even a cultist should understand Redirect Notice
Assistant San Diego Fire Department Chief Dan Eddy said the fog was so thick in the morning that “you could barely see in front of you.” Former NTSB and FAA crash investigator Jeff Guzzetti said he thinks dense fog and fatigue after the pilot flew all night long were likely factors in the crash. “This accident has all the earmarks of a classic attempt to approach an airport in really bad weather and poor visibility,” Guzzetti said. “And there were other airports that the crew could have gone to.” He said pilots are required to check FAA posts called Notices to Airmen that alert pilots to any issues such as runway lights being out.
What is the point in getting a Real ID if the DOGE understaffed FAA are just going to have pilots fly into helicopters and power lines?
While 2025 has seen some notable aviation incidents, including some fatal accidents, data suggests that overall, the number of plane accidents has been fewer than in 2024. There is a perception of more accidents due to increased media coverage and social media sharing of incidents. Go figure!
Might also help to have some more modern tools (computer systems and instrumentation) for the ATC's. It doesn't sound like the computer systems have been modernized in a long time. Maybe automate more of the interactions between pilots and ATC's, and use AI to come up with the best solutions, so that ATC's just have to oversee what is going on and intervene in emergencies. The current system seems to be inherently flawed, with multiple ATC's each controlling multiple planes, each with the potential to interact with other planes controlled by other ATC's, all with very little room for error. Airports may also need to have more lighting on runways, so that a taxiway leading off a main runway has red lights, yellow lights, and green lights across the entrance, so a pilot will know if he can exit the runway to the taxiway, or cross a runway on the taxiway. With exhaustion and stress of pilots and ATC's, anything that can be done to "idiot-proof" the decisions should be done.
It’s not down compared to last year, but it is right in line with last year and the last decade. I think a major incident like the DC crash is bound to put more focus on aircraft incidents. Are plane close calls and crashes actually increasing? Here’s what the data says
I think most people that do it are having fun with it because conservatives did the same thing with Biden and Obama.
I think you’re one of the very few on this board with a sense of humor. I appreciate that. I also realize that these guys are not having fun. They’re not capable of that. Straight intensity all the time. It’s got to be exhausting
