So we get to spend millions of tax dollars so he can have a plane sitting in front of his library. And you believe him? I guess my earlier question has been answered. Yep.
And even if it's true we still spent hundreds millions of tax dollars on a plane that was used for a year. Like thats somehow even better?
Sure that would change the “wasteful spending” aspect. But govt probably can’t even paint an AF1 plane for $100m, let alone fully kit it to serve as AF1. Of course you’ve just said the plane won’t serve as AF1, so seems you’re just taking this in a circular troll direction.
You’ve already been trolled by Trump in this anyways. Shouldn’t you turn your attention to outrage over canada or Greenland or Trump-Gaza-Resorts
I think the point is that if the plane isn’t going to be used as AF1, why are we even paying $1 for it?
The likely endgame here is that we take possession, sit on it until the end of Trump's term without actually even attempting to turn it into AF1, and then Trump gets a private plane upgrade to a flying palace when he's out of office.
Its pretty obvious to anyone with a brain that's the outcome. People think he's gonna leave this parked at his library or something and continue chartering Epstein's old plane for travel? He'll probably figure out a way to have taxpayers foot the bill for his plane use after he's out of office.
And your argument is that the Air Force is lying about the changes that they are planning to make on it?
Yeah this thing's never going to be AF1. What they really should do with it is sell it and use the proceeds to cover 0.000001% of the increased deficit caused by Trump's big beautiful turd of a bill.
Yeah it is I guess. First brought to the table during Obama’s admin, than ordered during Trumps first time round with an initial delivery date of 2024, pushed back to 2027 with rumors from my Boeing friends of now 2029. The 747 has the cubic space needed for such a support, er flying command post/presidential aircraft. Why’s it ridiculous if it fits the need? Some believe he’ll use it after he leaves….fruitful imaginations.
You mean the needed changes that are hopefully given to a company that can deliver on time? A free airframe? Yeah that’s just bad.
Because we have an AF1 already that functions, and we've already spent money on a new one. I mean he said he's keeping it, so why is it an act of imagination? Its not even state property that can be used by other government officials according to the guy taking it.
The plane is a Boeing. Boeing would likely have to be involved in any serious attempt to outfit it as AF1. Interestingly QATAR has been trying to get rid of this plane for 5 years but couldn’t find a buyer. The stated reason for that lack of buyer interest is that this is a discontinued plane which is expensive to maintain. So while it’s a “free airframe” purportedly valued around $200 million, it’s extremely doubtful this is fiscally sound from the perspective of govt vs. just waiting for the new AF1’s to be finally delivered to replace the aging ones.
So, your argument is that they aren't lying about the changes that they need to make? Sounds like you two need to talk about this amongst yourselves. Let us know whether we will be paying hundreds of millions to billions of dollars for a plane for Trump after he is President or not.
A free gift, and we are never going to put any money into retrofitting it into AF1? If so, it sounds a lot like Mike’s scenario below. Would you think it was wrong if everything transpires as Mike describes?
Based on what? it makes Dear Leader look bad so maga decides the required mods won’t be that expensive? Maybe research AF1 yourself. There is a lot to it.
