That doesn't make sense, though. Retiring a billion dollar jet after a year or two in service? To sit in the parking lot of a presidential library? There might be some wiggle room around the constitutionality of this gift if it was given to the country, to be used by future presidents. As it stands, this is a personal gift, which is forbidden under the Emoluments Clause.

A certain group of folks continue to ignore the ques of the day. Are you ok with spending up to $1 billion to fix up a plane that will be used for up to 2 years knowing that you are about to buy another plane?

Doesn't one of our prominent MAGA supporters brag about having a T-shirt that says "I'm Voting for the Felon" ?

Up to $1B? Sounds like a number they just pulled out of the air.

Sure, I assume that when somebody gives an individual $400 million that they might want something in return.

I guess we will have to stick to legally proven matters, like that Trump sexually abused a woman and has committed a variety of different fraudulent acts related to his businesses and charities.

But sure, that guy is just too honest to be bribed. Or the country that has already been proven to have bribed government officials (not to mention FIFA officials) are just too honest to try to bribe him. Whichever makes you feel better about an obvious bribe.

I know you know how wrong this is. Why defend it?

That would be the Presidential Library Foundation that will be run by a guy who can't run a charity in New York due to admittedly benefitting from charitable resources, right?

Oh the horrors ... he violated the constitution ... again.

And just what did he give them? You know it wasn't truly a "gift". Don't you?

Not going to defend Trump on this one. There is nothing about this that isn't shady. It is potentially bribery. It is also about as stupid as bringing a Trojan Horse from the enemy into the city.

I honestly love that Trump did this. Every day they log in to try to defend this stuff and it’s so entertaining

When Stephen Miller is done with his agenda and people see what it really is, right wing populism movement will be over. He will fall out with Trump just like every major appointee did in the last administration when approval rating tanks as isolationism ruins the US economy.
