I also think Tennessee, Georgia, and Kentucky are the likely picks. I'm good with that. I'm also okay with South Carolina instead of Kentucky, but Lexington is a much nicer city to visit than Columbia. I do miss the Auburn games, but that ship has sailed as a permanent rivalry and it ain't coming back.

The poll didn't list Missouri, TAMU, Texas, or Okla. They've got to get inserted somewhere in this mix also and probably not only with each other as the permanent rivals. I am hoping the Gators don't get stuck with one.

But that last auburn game was definitely worth the price of admission. I like the good games.

The other conferences won't be doing that and will be sucking up playoff spots like Boise State did. Where do you think they would've finished in the SEC this past year? Probably 4th or 5th at best.

Great thread and poll, however just wanted to point out that this rivalry eneded due to a change from two cross division rivals to just one in the 2003 season and the addition of Mizzou and TA&M was not until 2012. my vote was UGA, UT, Auburn.

Those were my three as well. There was nothing like those late 80's early 90's Aubrin games.

That happens anyway. Indiana was ranked fifth and hadn't played anybody until they played Ohio State and got crushed. Colorado didn't beat anybody all year and they were ranked. The scheduling is all bullshit anyway. That's why the SEC wins so many more titles than the other conferences as we actually play football games

So I'm hearing when the SEC goes to 9 games and the playoffs expand to 16, the SEC "championship" game will be for the #3 and #4 SEC teams to "play into" the college football playoffs. So no "real" SEC Championship.

My “other” vote is for USCe, but it’s selfish because I have lots of family there in Greenville, and it would be a nice excuse to go up there every other year.

    I’d be ok with
    -Georgia
    - Tennessee
    - either Auburn or USCe

    Georgia is a given

I like Tennessee because over the last 35 years they have been hands-down our #2 SEC rival behind Georgia. We’ve built quite a history even though the game count over time isn’t that high. And we will always have an upper hand over them because we have owned them when it counts the most. Just ask Peyton Manning, or BVD (RIP)

I like Auburn because of our history with them, and I’m sick and damn tired of LSU.

I’m ok with USCe - the SOS connection makes them a little special in my mind, and we should beat them with an average Gator team

Just say no to Kentucky. They are a mediocre team that always plays above their heads against us. The risk/reward with them does not work.

Nobody else is even a candidate in my books. Personally I wish we’d never expanded beyond 12 teams

Gotta get in to get that title. Who is getting in: a 9-3 UF that played 5 top-ten teams and won a couple or 11-1 Colorado who played 1 top 20 team all year and lost?

    Georgia obviously. Water is wet.

Auburn should have been our rival when the conference went East/West, but they chose Georgia, and we ended up with our runner-up LSU. Time to make them pay.

Besides, we are behind in the overall series for the above two teams and we need to catch them eventually.

Third slot, I'd take LSU (historical) over Tennessee (recent). Equal rivalries here, but playing UToothless won't bring back the most important part of the Tennessee rivalry tradition (sending them packing to the Citrus Bowl)

Oddly there are no votes for Bama!

I love rivalries but they can't be set up in a way that's fair! It's best is to just rotate all teams around. Maybe rotate 3 off and 3 new on each season. The following season the other 3 come off for 3 new ones. If my math is correct we would play every SEC team in 4 years and then the first 3 to rotate off would come back on.

That really makes no sense. Top four SEC teams are probably getting playoff every year

Auburn, the second longest standing opponent and geographically closest university to UF
Tennessee because it has the most delusional fan base I have ever interacted with and it’s so fun to beat their arses.

My understanding is a 1 v 2 to determine SEC Champ then two play ins, 3 v 6 and 4 v 5 to determine the 4 auto SEC teams. That is what most of the sites reporting on the potential changes say.
