That's not true. He did receive a salary. He said he "donated" a sum that was the same as his salary for the quarter. By the way, i have it on good authority that he deducted those donations as "tax exempt" thus in the end he received about $130,000 in salary for being President. Your accuracy rate might be near zero. President Donald J. Trump to Donate Salary to the Department of Education – The White House
splitting hairs. Donating his salary is basically the same thing. He didn’t want to accept a salary but he was required to so he donated it to different causes each quarter. Your link indicated his donation in one of those quarters.
Its not splitting hairs. He did get a salary and if he donated 400,000 he got a tax deduction. So he didnt donate his full salary that he did receive. Nothing about your post was actually accurate.
Bessent is on the crazy train. To paraphrase, he retorted… if tariffs are inflationary, an [income] tax cut is deflationary. Say what? An income tax cut will result in more disposable income, which is generally inflationary in nature. This is beyond Voodoo Economics. We are now in the land of Illuminati Economics.
I refuse to believe he actually attended Yale or led Soros’ London fund management office. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since he’s also working for an administration that is against his own personal rights.
On related news for retailers, Home Depot is coming out strong that they have diversified their supply chain, claiming no country of origin has more than 10% of their supplier base. They have been coy, and say they are able to absorb tariffs from China. Home Depot CFO says retailer doesn't plan to raise prices due to tariffs
Or rephrased "Don't tread on me....but knock yourself out with those other folks." That should be the new bumper sticker.
The middleman industry has already kicked off. Goods from China can be shipped to low-tariff countries, then repackaged to ship into the U.S. It's just one way to play the tariff game. There's always an end-around where commerce is concerned.
If you're referring to me that's not exactly what I said. I have an open mind and if the evidence shows I'm wrong my opinion will change. Here's what I actually said:
I doubt it... this is from '22 but its a good visual. They will quietly raise prices is my guess. Their stock has fallen sharply since tariffs were announced. Home Depot because of their oligopoly in many areas, and monopoly in some areas, have one of the highest net earning in retail, especially for their size. They are likely one of the few forces that can handle some of the cost increase but their stock will plummet from its current high levels of 25Xs which is trading at a 15% premium to earnings higher than its general history.
They could also be intending to stop stocking items most affected by the tariffs which would still allow them to truthfully make that statement.
The higher prices at Walmart may not affect you personally but with Walmart's $441.8 billion in US sales in 2024 Trump's tariffs will definitely affect the economy and almost certainly your investments.
A wide survey of companies: I hope Trump has a lot of eyeballs to “watch” them. Majority of US companies say they have to raise prices due to Trump tariffs More than half (54%) of the US companies surveyed by insurance company Allianz said they will have to raise prices to accommodate the cost of the tariffs. Of the 4,500 companies across nine countries, including the US, UK and China, surveyed by Allianz only 22% said they can absorb the increased costs.
Love shopping at HD, but I dont buy it. HD has been a major supporter of trump with political donations thanks to one of their cofounders (recently passed I believe). Probably just playing the game for them and trump
100%, but they put it out there. They will have their prices plastered all over the internet trying to catch them in a lie. Will be interest to compare against Lowe’s. OT: I have noticed less guys at the HD parking lots waiting for a pickup truck to arrive.
