No, but he and his “mentor” were so blatantly egregious that they created the equivalent of Baseball’s steroid era in College Football. They, and a handful of other colleges, made such a mockery of amateurism in college sports that the NCAA and the rest of the college administrators hollered uncle and completely abandoned any inkling of such principles.

And something many either don't realize or they take the risk because of the price is that if i bring anyone on your property that isnt insured, you assume liabilty.

The dead bear was the grandfather though. It just continued to get worse until it was full blown.

That was the most substantive and illuminating interview I have seen with Napier. I liked it. Thanks for posting it, Bobby.

Holy hell that's a 43 min interview. I'm gonna have to come back to that but just wanted to say it really seems like Josh Pate wants Napier to succeed on a personal level. He has had some glowing segments over the last two years, including saying last year that the Gators program is how all programs should be run.

In case anyone is interested, this is also available in podcast form on Spotify (and probably anywhere else you can find podcasts) Billy Napier joins Josh Pate - Pate Speaker Series

He isn't wrong, I expect many schools will begin cutting sports teams. We said from day one it was unsustainable.

He and Saban are the reason why we have the NIL... The damage is done.

My guess is that the leaders of this effort are the schools that were the most egregious flouters of the NCAA rules that are now threatened with some modicum of parity by the NIL collective era. I believe that Oklahoma was definitely in that group....they know that they will never sniff the financial stratosphere that Texas boosters can achieve. This effort appears to me to be the Alabama's of the world wanting to go back to the old paradigm where they cheat with impunity while thumbing their nose at the enforcement arm while it investigates and penalizes the disfavored programs. Has NIL been banned for parents :p?

I hope that the major schools in FL are lobbying to have a law similar to what Tennessee passed for the State of FL that will provide some protection for UF. I don't think the SEC can remove a charter member, so I don't know that they can force an institution to sign on. They could, however, form a new league and leave out the dissenters but that would create havoc with the TV contracts.

I figured it was coming. Schools want enforceable rules and order. Instead of unpredictability and chaos.
