Truer words have never been spoken. Liberty -- never been to a Super Regional -- three outs away from knocking of the #1 seed A&M.
I wanted Liberty to win until I realized 2 of their assistant coaches are 2 of the 3 not to be named sisters from 2012. And shockingly one of them is the pitching coach.
Yep, kkg8r pointed that out earlier and I completely understand Black Friday. That said, having one less tough team in the WCWS is a good thing for the Gators!
Right now we are on the tougher side of the bracket. #3 Florida v Georgia SEC v SEC #6 Texas v #11 Clemson SEC v ACC #7 Tennessee v Nebraska SEC v B10 #2 Oklahoma v #15 Alabama SEC v SEC
I'm not a fan of Canady, but hope Texas Tech beats FSU. The Bahl vs Pickens matchup will be interesting. I can't stand Tennessee's coach, so have to pull for the Huskers. UCLA could be a team that makes waves in Oklahoma City. I don't see South Carolina beating them. I, also, see Arkansas beating whoever wins that Ole Miss/Stanford game. Oklahoma is going to blast Alabama, IMO. At least I hope so - can't stand Patrick Murphy. Florida is way better than Georgia. They just have to prove it on the field next weekend - and they will!
Liberty could actually pull it off against the Oregon/Stanford winner. Neither of them is elite and Liberty has confidence and is on a roll. That would be kind of cool to see them in OKC. I like the Cinderella stories unless it's at the expense of the Gators. And I have to pull for Clemson to upset Texas. I don't want our first game in the WCWS to be against Texas.
The article was from April 27, 2023 and is not current enough to address some of the players on last year’s and this year’s team. As always sports produces valid opinion's of its history. It is hard to keep Jocey Erickson, Kendra Falby, Skylar Wallace, eventually Taylor Shumaker and others out of the discussion with valid points supporting their inclusion
That said I will put Jocey as the best catcher. Aubree Monroe a very close second. Both have high IQ and skill for the position.
I'll give kudos to the author (a Georgia alumnus) for actually doing deep research to find some of these all stars. But this article was written in 2023, so I would offer a couple of alternative updates: Skylar Wallace instead of Megan Bush Kendra Falby instead of Michelle Moultrie (altho I loved Michelle) Jocelyn Erickson instead of Kristen Butler (altho Erickson has only been a Gator for 2 years, and I admit I am not familiar with Butler.) I am no foretune teller, but I think Taylor Shumaker will push Anea out of her slot.
I heartily agree. I also don't appreciate someone pushing their religion on viewers during sports interviews as Dot Richards does. However, I admit I was rooting for Liberty from an underdog perspective. (Not to mention I think they were screwed on several umpire rulings.) I also think TA&M is overrated in general. Their SEC schedule this year was tied for the weakest.
