This thread is actually about the recurring lies of the multi-billionaire who, with $280 million, purchased his way into a quasi-Cabinet position where he could spew lies to the public while stealing data and government information, absent any oversight whatsoever. (Insane, when you think about it. )

So it's really just a "but Trump" thing.

With all due respect, by this point did you really think that?

It's important to recognize the traffickers of lies.

Covering up for an old man who is slowly becoming senile so the nation could be successful is by no means equivalent to committing 34 felonies. Having classified info at home is by no means equivalent to having classified info at home AND showing it off to people to impress them.

Lots of presidents have had corrupt relatives (in fact, most of them have) and protected them from prosecution. Only one has put relatives into positions of authority and encouraged them to make millions of dollars at it: Donald Trump, the Grift & Graft King. Only one has engaged in major corruption himself: Donald Trump, who stayed at his own hotels so that the Secret Service would be forced to take up rooms in the hotel as well. Only one has sold shoes and cryptocurrency as a presidential candidate and then as president.

The greatest tragedy of Trump being president is not that he's a lying grifter and snake oil salesman, it is that he is thoroughly incompetent (while convinced that he is some kind of genius). He is the dumbest graduate in the history of the Wharton School of Finance, according to one of his professors, and he proves it daily. He doesn't know what tariffs are or who pays them, yet he insists on having tariffs to improve the economy. He doesn't know who U.S. immigrants are or what they do for the nation, yet he insists on getting rid of them as inhumanely as possible.

Actually, I'm a conservative (one who is too intelligent to fall for Trump's empty claims of "winning"). I've been a conservative since Ronald Reagan. JD isn't taking over anything. The economy is headed for a dumpster fire (or at least, a likely recession), and no one closely associated with Trump will ever run successfully for major political office again. Once you're stained orange, you can't get rid of that stain. Bad-mouthing Haitians and other immigrants, much less talking about supporting dictatorships worldwide and taking over other countries, will do nothing to revive that worthless political career. Vance is nowhere near as good of a con-man as Dimwit Donald Trump is. And as badly as a poor politician like Kamala Harris destroyed Trump in their one debate, any politician would wipe the floor with Vance.

Mentioned it other posts. The belief that DOGE was actually concerned with lowering the deficit and increasing the efficiency of the Federal government was completely laid to rest when Elon's boys cut the number of IRS auditors by one-third. The IRS is one of the very few government agencies in which expenditures result in a positive return on investment. The CBO estimated that for each dollar spent on the IRS the government receives an additional six dollars in revenue. It's rather obvious that when DOGE cut the budget of IRS it's real goal was to protect very high income taxpayers who use complex tax avoidance schemes not to save money.

Trump's policies will have the same impact on the future of the Republican Party that George W. Bush's policies had on a creating a permanent Republican majority. Two years after Bush was reelected in 2004, the Democrats won control of both Houses of Congress in 2006 for the first time since 1992 election.

While I never underestimate the Democrats ability to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory, I have a hard time thinking JD Vance can win the election. He is profoundly unlikable and has no charisma.
