Thankfully, Bama struck out a bunch of times this weekend, minimizing Cyr's limitations or inexperience at second base. I fear that this is not sustainable in the post season.

What is the latest on Shelton or Nadeau's return?

Swapping Lawson and Stripling yesterday made a big defensive difference, particularly at first base, but does Sully have any other options at second base, since the strength of any defense is up the middle.

Lastly, did anyone hold their breath when Yost crashed into Bama's first baseman

We have no bench players left. If another of our starters gets hurt, a pitcher is going to have to play somewhere in the field. From what I've heard, Nadeau could be back soon - maybe this week. Not sure about Shelton, but hope he's available for the Regionals.

Maybe not at this level. Most of our pitchers hit and played the field in high school. The only real difference would be the amount of batting practice they've taken during the season. But I'm not sure how much that would matter when we're talking about an emergency situation anyway.

Too many errors by backup third baseman on routine throws to first.

A critical issue that I believe showed up this weekend is players in positions they haven't practiced regularly or even at all.. The one pitcher listed on the roster as a two-way player is McDonald. He worked out regularly at 1B in practices and scrimmages fall '23 and preseason '24. I didn't see many infield workouts for this season, but if he has that listing on the roster, he must have practiced there at some point this season.

The players who kicked the ball around this week all have good experience at their positions in their careers- Cyr played 2B for nearly a season and a half at scUM, but he's only played OF here. They're good ballplayers who can play well if they land at an emergency position, but it simply can't be as natural for them as it would be at a position they play full time.

Catcher is the position that concerns me. Doney day after day? Where is Choo Choo Coleman when he's needed?
