Ex-FBI chief Comey’s ‘86 47’ social media post condemned by White House as attempt to put ‘hit’ on p

I think everyone had pretty much thought Comey was out of circulation and had retreated to gardening and watching Longmire reruns. This is an example of any press is good press for him. I think I heard he has a book coming out. Perhaps all part of his plan to be relevant again for a short while.

 

As with most crimes, intent, level of competencies, prior knowledge, etc are all part of the equation when carrying out an investigation. You continue to conflate a former FBI director's post to the likes of random MAGA online retailer. FBI directors are presumed to have a strong working knowledge of the law and what would peak law enforcement's curiosity. You're just going to have to accept Comey made his bed. Nobody in law enforcement is scrutinizing a random online MAGA retailer the same way they are a former FBI director.

 

The Secret Service takes threats seriously, as they should. There have been at least two assassination attempts on President Trump. I understand when they question Comey, like everyone else who may have made a threat, they want to know if it was indeed intended as a threat or intended to inspire others to act? They will also look at the person and his/her means to further any threat. The former FBI Director is highly placed, has funding and access to people who could carry out a threat, if it was one, and access to a wide audience that could be inspired. Bob, living in his parents' basement, rage-posting on Reddit to three people, would probably be dismissed as a nut . . . but would be kept on record for future reference. I agree with cron78. This was probably an attempt to get attention for Comey's upcoming book that backfired.

 

No .... given Comey's professional background, the likelihood of him not knowing what the "86-47" means re Donal Trump is very much smaller than the "average guy on the street". I believe it's quite reasonable for anyone to believe Comey knew the meaning of the term and to think his claim that he didn't to be a lie .... and his apology to be disingenuous.

If congress or the DOJ want to investigate Comey re this matter ..... then have at it.

 

This is why that contingent is seen as unserious.

 

Whatever the motivation behind Comey's post, he clearly knew how his post might be perceived by some. And thus, he brought this upon himself.

The term "put you 6 feet under" always has meant to bury, end, delete, etc. The 8 foot , as in combo 86, always referred to a grave site, as in 6 ft deep and 8 ft long, as well as to "delete". Thus 86 is to bury or delete. Comey is not referring to delete the tomato in his favorite sandwich, #47, at Joe's deli. Nor is he referring to cancel Trump's agenda. And putting it in sea shells does not make it cute any more than a pink Glock shooting your child.

It is no different than the old western term, "I'll be your huckleberry". That meant one who will carry your coffin. As in "buckle" (handle or strap) and "bearer" (as in pall bearer). Say it and you get huckleberry. It was not an innocent term, it was a clear threat or at the least a severe warning.

Other terms commonly used are, eg, OK. To say "ok" does not mean "Oklahoma" when asked a question.

Progressives yell "you're playing the victim card". DJT was the literal and actual "Victim" of two assassination attempts. One bullet grazed him and the other man fled and was caught not by the Feds but by local police or the FHP. But most Progressives are "OK" with killing the candidate they disagree with or hate.

Progressives coop words and terms to deceive: hero, victim, cult, racist, phobic, Nazi, tyrant, and such. Where Jefferson and Madison a cult? Were the voters and supporters of Lincoln, JFK, Reagan, Clinton, Obama a Cult? No. They agreed with their agenda.

They have, for the most part, been duped into believing that all problems in the world are caused by climate change, religion, Trump, and/or racism.

He made the post. I will certainly accept that. What he meant by the post, only he can know. Sometimes former FBI directors are just people.

 

I actually don’t even accept this meaning for 86 47. As far as I can tell, 86 is used to describe killing in a small groups of people of which Comey has never been a part. Is it possible that Comey knew of this definition and secretly meant that the president should be killed? Sure. It’s also possible that Trump wanted Clinton killed when he referenced the 2nd amendment people, and I meant sex when I wrote “knew” in the previous sentence. These are not things the government should be in charge of deciding. And if you think Comey doesn’t deserve the charible (and I would argue most likely) interpretation of his message, that’s fine. But you should realize that you are the one making that choice, not Comey.

 

This is a total stretch beyond the pale. Start with... NO that is not close to the common usual usage of the term and has zero old west connection. Progressives changed those word's definitions to deceive Maga? That's a laugh.

 

It’s just the conservative version of cancel culture that they claim to abhor so much. They are just as bad. Find something, take it completely out of context and force an unneeded apology or otherwise use it to silence the person. So much for “free speech”.

 

First, last time I checked JFK and RFK were dead from bullets. Reagan was shot in the torso. Trump was shot on the edge of his ear. Teddy R was shot. Lots of people have been shot by political crazies...and the Progressives are crazy.

So your defense is that if someone is still alive, thus the threats are meaningless. Put your name and home address on line for the world and let's see how you feel when some folks are encouraged to 86 you! You'll be running to mommy.

 

Here is a list of Progressive ways: they manipulate truth very carefully (most effective lie is closest to the truth), they selectively omit facts, they make emotional appeals (Bernie, AOC, Hillary, KH), they lack evidence to support their case so they yell racist, phobic, etc., they try to frame a perception of innocence (here to help, equity, fair share, etc), they cherry pick authorities (Fauci, Clapper, Brennan, CNN, MSNBC), and they Suppress Counter Narratives (Biden's attempt at Director of Misinfo, Ivermectin is horse med, canceled on Facebook, Twitter).

Eventually the truth comes out...but some times it is too late.

Always remember that after the Soviet Union fell, there was a march in Moscow of people wanting to keep Communism. We have people of that same mind-set in the USA.
