This thread seriously makes me feel like I’m in the twilight zone.

Jack Posobiec sees the 86 47 message as a call for assassination and believes Comey should be arrested immediately.

Of course this is the same guy who posted this in 2022.

Meanwhile Matt Gaetz posted this usage of 86 last year:

But today he says that his usage is distinct from Comey’s because his use was in the past tense. That’s right, he’s literally arguing that the meaning of 86 changes from “murder” to “remove from office” when brought to a different tense.

So… Should Gaetz, Posobiec, and countless Amazon vendors be arrested along with Comey? Or did the word drastically change meaning in the last few months? Or should we just move on because this whole episode is utterly freaking stupid?

Not a single one of them truly believe that's what he meant. It's just an opportunity to play the victim.

No. Is that the argument now, that the word carries is common usage unless uttered by Bob Mueller, Christopher Wray, or James Comey?

It’s quite clear in the statutes. Whether or not you’re charged with attempted murder depends on what your previous jobs have been.

In my restaurant experience it meant “we are all out of the eggplant Parmesan special, so take it off the menu”…or the prime rib special, or the Galliano so no more Harvey Wallbangers will be served tonight. But, I have also heard it in a much more menacing use in popular culture over the years. Bottom line is that so-called leaders of all persuasions should be more aware of what they say and how it might be interpreted. This is a classic case of think before you spout off not being applied by someone that should know better considering all the surrounding circumstances.

You’re right; killing/assassinating a president is the only way to get them out of office.
