Musk & Vance claimed 40% of SSA callers were fraudulent ... DOGE investigation puts it a 0.0018%

DOGE’s Fraud Tracker at Social Security Turns Into a Massive Self-Own

This is typical of the way Trump and Musk do things. Make outrageous claims, get the marks all worked up, then quietly pretend that never happened when the facts come out.

Doge's own investigation found just 2 out of 110,000 calls into SSA a high probability of being fraudulent, after previously claiming there was a 40% level of fraud.

These dopes made the SSA 25% LESS efficient so they could identify two fraudulent callers.

Procedures implemented by the Department of Government Efficiency suggested that just two out of 110,000 calls to the Social Security Administration this spring had a “high probability” of being fraudulent, Nextgov/FCW reported.

That is a far cry from the 40 percent figure that was parroted by MAGA in recent months, including by DOGE’s recently departed leader, Elon Musk, and Vice President JD Vance. The real figure is about .0018 percent.

The anti-fraud procedures were put in place by DOGE last month and have seemingly done more harm than good, according to an internal memo viewed by Nextgov/FCW. The new procedures reassured DOGE staff that fraudsters are not phoning the SSA every second, but reportedly slowed processing times at the administration by 25 percent and may soon be removed from protocol.

The interesting observation isn't that dishonest grifters told outright lies to the American public. It's how many, mostly MAGA, voters are OK with being lied to.

I guess Harris laughed funny, though.

I take it you like fraud? Or are you against fraud? We can get clarity right now in this issue.

Running the government like a business means people get to steal pens, stationary and engage in light amounts of shoplifting

What fraud are you talking about? "We are fighting fraud" is the 2025 version of "The election was stolen"... very little evidence of some minor issues...

You are dealing with people who'd think 1 illegal border crossing is open borders and that we should spend a billion more dollars on security to get it down to 0

Every single human endeavor has fraud.

The question should be what amount of fraud is worth tackling? What are the remedial costs and can they produce and ROI?

40% is a nice absurd sounding number that makes drastic measures seem worthwhile. Fractions of a percent don't allow these actual fraudsters to go in and steal.

Everyone enjoys a little fraud, I think. We all had a laugh when a guy did some fraud here and claimed his mother was posting for his dead son. If we had zero tolerance for fraud on TH, we'd lose our souls, just a little.

I think the overall goal of republicans is to dismantle SS altogether. Making the experience as slow, miserable, and inefficient as possible gives them the cover to claim "it's not working, cost are risings, it's running out of money quicker"... was probably never about finding fraud. It was about giving Musk access to everyone's data while undermining the whole system.

More evidence that the vast majority of the "fraud" they uncovered is them just not understanding what they're looking at.

There is no fraud, there never was. DOGE IS the fraud in the room. Just like we’re all going to be getting $5,000 stimulus checks, lol. When are those of you who support Trump ever going to to realize that he and his cronies are lying to you? The man who told over 30,000 verifiable lies during his first term and has been a serial liar his whole life is screwing you and laughing at you while he does it. Wake the hell up already.

I think that's obvious to most reasonable observers.

The error of my post was thinking that I could effectively point out that "do you like fraud?" is not the correct question - i.e., my error was thinkng that a reasonable poster was asking such questions.
