Binghamton sucks at men's basketball, and my basketball experience there was not great to put it mildly, but the women are good at softball. They play Oregon at 5 pm today in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

The school had a million names. It started out as Triple Cities College, then Harpur College, then SUNY Binghamton, then Binghamton State, and now Binghamton University. Additionally, the nickname of the team used to be the colonials, but now it is the bearcats.
The reason for that is my home state college UVM is in the same conference. They have dominated the America East Conference for quite some time.

It’s the Binghamton Bearcats. Back in the day when it was primarily known as Harpur College, when we were asked where we were going to college, we would slur the pronunciation of Harpur so it sounded like Harvard.
