Trump is welcoming White Afrikaners while almost simultaneously withdrawing temporary protected status from Afghani refugees making them eligible for deportation back to Afghanistan where they would very likely be persecuted by the Taliban and in the case of those Afghani refugees who aided American troops even possibly losing their lives.

Wondering if you'd like to possibly comment on Trump welcoming the white people you link to after ......... denying people (or their families) from Afghanistan who had literally helped our military and probably saved the lives of US service members.

You do realize that that EFF, a Marxist Party represents 9.7% of the seats in the South African National Assembly? It has virtually no impact on national policy.
By the way this person is a member of the EFF.

Since January, the previously bipartisan U.S. Refugee Admissions Program in which we participate has essentially shut down. Virtually no new refugees have arrived, hundreds of staff in resettlement agencies around the country have been laid off, and funding for resettling refugees who have already arrived has been uncertain. Then, just over two weeks ago, the federal government informed Episcopal Migration Ministries that under the terms of our federal grant, we are expected to resettle white Afrikaners from South Africa whom the U.S. government has classified as refugees.

In light of our church’s steadfast commitment to racial justice and reconciliation and our historic ties with the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, we are not able to take this step. Accordingly, we have determined that, by the end of the federal fiscal year, we will conclude our refugee resettlement grant agreements with the U.S. federal government.

I want to be very clear about why we made this decision—and what we believe lies ahead for Episcopal Migration Ministries’ vital work.

It has been painful to watch one group of refugees, selected in a highly unusual manner, receive preferential treatment over many others who have been waiting in refugee camps or dangerous conditions for years. I am saddened and ashamed that many of the refugees who are being denied entrance to the United States are brave people who worked alongside our military in Iraq and Afghanistan and now face danger at home because of their service to our country. I also grieve that victims of religious persecution, including Christians, have not been granted refuge in recent months.

 

The Progressive Caucus of the South African parliament, of which the EFF is the dominant party and de facto leader, holds 100 of the 400 National Assembly seats. So 25% of the sitting members of the South African Parliament National Assembly who expressly support the taking of Afrikaner lands without compensation have no impact on national policy? It's telling that you would rely on the photo of teenage college student as anecdotal proof that the EFF and it's leadership is harmless simply because she is White. She is a propaganda piece, nothing more, EFF is 97.6% Black and their policies and rhetoric are violently anti-White.

 

The situation in South Africa is a little more complicated than just the EFF. There is also the MF party led by former South African President Jacob Zuma for the ANC. They won 58 seats in the last election. Zuma during his time as President support redistribution of land without compensation. The ANC is also supporting redistribution of land and has been looking at ways to do it. They have gone from "just amounts" to also supporting redistribution with no compensation. Seeing as the economy in South Africa has been very stagnate over the last 30 years, land is seen as one of the most valuable assets in the country. The value of that land has now gone down in value as owners do not want to sell for a discount that most buyers want due to uncertainty.

The Afrikaners have seen this play before in Zimbabwe under Robert Mugabe, where there was suppose to be a land redistribution for compensation in the 1980's that eventually turned into a confiscation of almost all White owned farms gone by the 2010's. Mugabe turned into a dictator and had an authoritarian regime, which did not work out well for Zimbabwe. Some farmers have eventually been paid back after Mugabe's regime ended but it took a long time and they were only paid back for infrastructure improvements to the land and not for the land itself.

South African is also dealing with issues of power shortages due to not enough new power infrastructure being built in the last the 20+ years. There is also the fact that they only spend .8% of GDP on the military and have a force of 70k active duty and 30k reservists, in a country of 63M. There are also some questions about the readiness of those forces. We also have to remember that South Africa is not an important provider of goods or services that have vital national interest to US and the South African government itself is becoming more aligned with China and Russia.

All of this is creating conditions to question the stability of South Africa in the future.

 

So to use maga logic here for a moment: how is the issue of whites being mistreated in south africa our problem?

 

While you raise some very valid points my post was specifically in response to another post using a tweet quoting a leader of the EFF who made a statement to the effect that killing Whites in South Africa was a possible strategy some time in the future. The only problems were the quote is probably years old, there absolutely no context and EFF is, in fact, a very minor party. The obvious point of his post was that White South Africans should be entitled to refugee status based on a fear of potential genocide, a very extreme stretch based on a single quote with no context.

The best I can come up with is that Trump is telling them that the US will take them now if they want out, because the US is not going to intervene if the country collapses.

Without going down the rabbit hole, let's just say that a lot of white South Africans are worried about what happens if the current government fails or is taken over by a combination of the MF and ETT. As mentioned, they saw what happened in Zimbabwe and do not want to share a similar fate. So white South Africans are worried about being targeted, whether folks here in the US think they should be or not. I'm not sure that should entitle them to a special refugee status, though. If the country were showing greater signs of instability, then I could possible see it.

My question to you is, do you think the US/FVEY/NATO would feel pressured to intervene if the South African government fell and white South Africans were being targeted for attack?

One other thing, seeing as South Africa had a nuclear weapons program and then dismantled it, we probably want to make sure any of the people that worked on that can come to the US, rather than having them roaming around the world looking for work.
