Qatar previously bought a Trump relative who was also an advisor to Trump and directly influenced policty. This time they decided to buy the big guy himself directly.
Timeline on Jared Kushner, Qatar, 666 Fifth Avenue, and White House Policy
When the Kushner Companies purchased 666 Fifth Avenue in midtown Manhattan in early 2007 for a record-breaking price of $1.8 billion, it was supposed to be a center of their real estate portfolio. Instead, the Kushners have struggled to cover their debt on the troubled building since shortly after its purchase on the eve of the financial crisis. As Jared Kushner’s father-in-law, Donald J. Trump, was running for President, the Kushners were pitching Qatari investors to help bail out the building. And just weeks after his father Charles reportedly failed to reach a deal with Qatar’s minister of finance, Jared Kushner, in his capacity as a senior adviser to President Trump, reportedly played a central role in supporting a blockade of Qatar by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Kushner never disclosed his meeting with Saudi Arabia and the UAE on the blockade to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson at the time. Later, a financial company tied to Qatar brokered an especially valuable deal to rescue the Kushner Companies’ property at 666 Fifth Avenue.

    Just criminals doing criminal things.

I heard Joe Biden was really old by the end of his first term as President, though.

“It’s a criminal enterprise. Saudi Arabia giving $25 million, Qatar — all of these countries,” Trump said at an October 2016 debate with Clinton. “You talk about women and women’s rights? So these are people that push gays off buildings. These are people that kill women and treat women horribly. And yet you take their money.”

“The Clinton Foundation accepted as much as $60 million from Middle Eastern countries that oppress women, gays and people of different faiths,” Trump said. “The foundation donors included corporations and individuals with significant matters before the State Department. Not good.”

The one difference is that the Clinton Foundation is a legitimate charity. It received a very high rating from Charity Navigator. The millions and perhaps billions of dollars that Trump has received either directly or indirectly from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern monarchies has gone directly into the pocket of Donald Trump and his family.

Probably not. She made the comment back in 2018. One commentator opined that Trump loves converts to MAGA almost as much as he loves people who have been true believers from the beginning, prime examples being Marco Rubio who vigorously attacked Trump in 2016 Republican primaries and JD Vance who back in 2020 went so far as to infer that Trump was acting like a Nazi.

Rationally the 747 that has been gifted to Trump would require extensive modifications before it could be used as the primary presidential transport. That being said considering Trump's love of opulence (when he took office the first time in 2017 he inferred that the White House wasn't up to the standards of his residences at Trump Tower or Mar-a-Lago), his history of ignoring security norms and the fact that as POTUS he is the ultimate decision maker he could very well end up using the plane as Air Force One against the recommendations of virtually every expert on the subject. The one factor that could dissuade Trump would be if he was persuaded the plane would be more much vulnerable to attack in its current state than the 30-year old 747-200 currently used as Air Force One or the two jets that are still being retrofitted and modified by Boeing and may not be available before Trump leaves office.
