Mexican Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch confirmed a report that 17 family members of cartel leader Ovidio Guzman Lopez, who was extradited to the United States in 2023, had entered the U.S as part of a deal between a son of the former head of the Sinaloa Cartel and the Trump administration.

Guzmán Lopez is one of the brothers left running a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel after notorious capo Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán was imprisoned in the U.S. Video showed the family members walking across the border from Tijuana with their suitcases to waiting U.S. agents.

“It is evident that his family is going to the U.S. because of a negotiation or an offer that the Department of Justice is giving him,” Garcia Harfuch said. He said that none of the family members were being pursued by Mexican authorities and that the government of U.S. President Donald Trump “has to share information” with Mexican prosecutors, something it has not yet done.

The confirmation by García Harfuch comes the same day that the U.S. Attorney General’s Office announced it was charging a number of top cartel leaders with “narcoterrorism” for the first time since the Trump administration declared a number of cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

Ranted and raved about fentanyl coming across the border...then rolled out the red carpet for the family of the cartel that facilitates it. Will the "muh border safety" contingent care that Trump can be bought and paid by the cartels to be brought into the country?

I'm pretty sure that this was allowed because they bought a lot of $TRUMP cryptocurrency. Or they bought Trump an airplane.

    Also from the article:

“…pointing fingers at members of other criminal organizations likely as part of a cooperation agreement.”

Seems like baby narco could be a snitch. Why is this bad that Trump could be protecting family members in exchange for a broader crack down on drug lords?

    will wait for the details.

So, the government labels the cartels as terrorist organizations, but then imports their family members, while shredding the constitution to deport other people ... how does this make sense?

The main problem is that they declared these were terrorist organizations, and now you are negotiating with terrorists, they thing they say you arent supposed to do. They have also been using terrorism as a pretext to deport, detain and render just about anyone they want without due process, but again here they are making deals to bring people into the country. Just another self-inflicted wound based on their own stupidity and myopia.

You're absolutely correct ..... up until the end.

There can really be no "self-inflicted wounds" when the legal checks in both the Legislative and Judicial branches are perfectly tolerant of this POTUS and Administration breaking the law. As are his voters.

This Admin has a chaos policy. Negotiating with terrorists might be well within that policy.

You will have to negotiate with terrorists anyways if you essentially call everyone a terrorist. In this case the terrorist part is if they want to operate special forces in Mexico without their cooperation, I guess not so much when they need information or a plea bargain.
