Good points. Yes, there has been different Chicken Little talk on CNBC about coming stagflation and the guaranteed coming recession but very little about things turning out better than expected. I don't think Powell will willingly cut rates unless he has to. US treasuries are still as close to a "risk-free asset" as can be found. The Treasury Secretary has been pretty clear that there is no way the US will default. There's only so much money to invest and with stocks going up and gold (generally) going up and the Fed rates staying high, bonds have to compete. That's my two cents although I've only ever day/swing traded Bonds and Notes based on chart reading and not on fundamentals.

Unless you are having deflation, which is undesirable, you are having inflation. Historically, the fed target for inflation has been 2.0%.

What is down is the rate of increase in inflation, the lowest rate of increase since February 2021.

Eggs have fallen in price considerably. Even the lamestream media has stopped complaining about egg prices.

Gasoline has fallen too. It will be interesting to see how far down gasoline can go as the oil producers have to make a profit, reportedly around $70 a barrel would be optimal for the producers. Oil is in the low $60s now, so we may be in a gasoline range depending on where you live between $2.00 and $3.00 per gallon, likely over $5.00 if you live in California. I gassed up at $2.62 on my last trip to the pump. Prices have been slowly but steadily declining here.

I just saw $3.00 plus prices here in north tx.

Are you really asserting Trump had something to do with this month’s inflation numbers? I suspect it will tick up modestly when the tariff impacts hit.

if you look deep into the numbers the modest numbers and the slow decline largely reflect the taming of CPI housing and rent measures, which tend to lag market based rents. There’s some evidence that leading rents are tending up again, modestly.

And little by little Trump is killing Biden's destructive regulatory policies. Now when the congress passes the One Big Beautiful Bill we will truly see the effects of Trump's policies. That is coming soon... to a city near you.

Yep. The April lows were a really great time to buy good stocks that got thrown out with the bath water.

I’m now 3% above my peak prior to the tariff stuff.

Mind you we had a huge run post Trump’s election win as well.

    You make great points.

Too bad many made hay about egg prices shooting up and pointing at Trump as the cause.

    Anything for hits and clicks.

    Ya, too bad.

It's weird - you seem to disapprove of people allegedly misattributing the cause of inflation. But I missed your condemnation of the actual President of the United States not only doing the same thing, but repeatedly telling farcical lies about both prices and inflation.

    Weird.

The price of food products grown and harvested in America has dropped. Eggs 12.7%. Energy prices drive farm prices. That's a big help to low and middle-wage earners.

I don’t recall anybody seriously saying eggs prices were Trump. More of a response to people blaming 2024 egg prices on Biden.

Well in fairness it’s hard to tell sometimes if people are being serious or just doing to fan flames..
It wasn’t limited to THFSG either.

    See above however.
