Donald Trump is a great, great American who deserves this and much more.

He has done many great and important things for America, such as introducing revolutionary new drugs to fight covid, winning Americans countless riches through his well thought-out trade war, and dramatically increasing tourism to historical sites, such as the Capitol Building on January 6th, 2021.

The claim that January 6th was a tourism event really undermines the gravity of what happened. Introducing drugs to fight covid was largely the result of private companies and scientists, not one person

talk about reaching for straws- the lib media and the libs on too hot will try to find anything they can to say orange man bad- the plane is being gifted to the DOD for use "UNTIL" the new AF1 from Boeing is completed- the contract for which started under obama. And in reality while the plane while be technically free - will need several million dollars to make it fit the needs of an actual AF1- when no longer needed it will go the Trump's Presidential library(not unlike what happened under Reagan) - y'all act like there is some behind the scenes illegal activity on this- our current AF1 is about 34 years old and the maintenance costs alone are very high-

The Saudi's, of course, are gifting Trump a lavish jet out of the goodness of their hearts. Four hundred million dollars worth of altruism, no strings attached. Just like Elon's outsized donation to Trump's campaign. Maybe SA can build us a new White House while they're at it, the current one is sadly lacking in bling, despite Trump's heroic efforts to gild the Oval Office with all that unbelievably tacky gold trumpery he's so fond of.

First, there is not one Air Force One plane but two. Second, flying planes is expensive, even new ones. Acting like the maintenance costs for two 747s we’ve budgeted is the reason is pure hose crap and ignores that replacement 747s will also be exorbitantly expensive to fly as well. Third, and not to be undersold, those updates you think are needed for the Qatari plane are part of the reason the new AF1s are delayed and the “retrofits” will cost more than the reported value of this plane. That opulent interior will have to be gutted to make hundreds of millions in modifications to make it operationally secure in all aspects.

If this was a donation to the US Government almost no one would be objecting (though I think it would still be a waste of money with the new planes coming in 2 years). The problem here is that it isn’t being donated to the US. It’s going to his presidential library under his control while still fully within the service life of the aircraft. Claiming this is the same as the decommissioned AF1 at the Reagan library is blatantly false. That plane flew as AF1 for 7 presidents and was decommissioned 12 years after Reagan left office, and 10 years serving as a backup to the current 747s. It was then cut into pieces and moved inside a building. Here Trump is going to leave the Whitehouse in the 747 and use it as his personal jet while putting all the operational costs on his presidential library. Even Erdogan felt shame at accepting the same donation from Qatar and said it was going to the Turkish government.

And no mention of the $5.5 billion deal? C’mon now.

Starting to get even too grifty for the most right wing talking heads. They'd still rather show fealty to a grifter than break with him.

It’s comical. Zero critical thinking at all.

There’s a couple very obvious issues with this plane. 1st off, it’s not fit to be Air Force one! AF1 is not an “off the shelf” plane. Boeing is taking years to deliver the new one because of all the requirements the govt has for Air Force One. If it was as simple as taking an 778 and saying “contract delivered” Boeing could have done that at any time. We weren’t waiting on a foreign govt to “donate” a plane lmao. But just as it’s taking years to deliver AF1, the time to properly retrofit this plane would likely also be years (if possible at all).

The other obvious issue is “ownership”. It wouldn’t be an issue if this plane was donated 100% to the U.S. govt (although still stupid, as the govt would have no use for a plane not spec’d properly to serve as AF1). But we know damn well that’s not the case, that the intent is for this plane to be a personal gift to Trump. Even the right wing grifter space sees this as blatant.

Also, this "gift" is from freaking Qatar.

When I used to work in the defense industry, Qatar wasn't blacklisted but they were "grey listed" meaning all of our transactions with them came with extra scrutiny. A lot of our "allies" in the region dont trust Qatar

20 years ago. Quick Google search says the EU removed it from grey list status in 2023.

Trying hard not to block you. Would you please make it easier for me, and post some things that are either informative or funny? They can be derisive to that and those I support, as long as they are either informative or funny.

But this wanton destruction of productive bandwidth with the time-sink trolling? No mas, por favor. You gotta step it up, buddy.

That’s why I was asking the question. Wasn’t aware of when they were removed but I know they are now considered “friendly”
