It's being reported Texas may spend 35 to 40 million for recruits this cycle. That dwarfs everybody, even the bucknuts.
Somewhat true but that lsu qb was pretty damn good but it wasnt near enough to beat the rlite teams which had clearly inferior qbs.
Hasn’t Texas had money for a long time and they still didn’t get good until they found the right coach in sarkisian. I agree that you need top shelf players but a good coach steering the ship seems to be imperative.
They got better instantly when nil let them outspend everyone blatantly . They may have still lost because their coach possibly isnt as good as Day but more lkiely osu just had better players.
But bama may not can afford to outspend anymore with it being legal. The bar has been raised financially
Bama didn’t mind being labeled cheaters and had plenty of bagmen willing to do the dirty work. TX folks didn’t mind spending money, but the big money is a little more holier than thou, not too different from our big money. Just like here, I’m sure there were some willing to get dirty, but it wasn’t systemic like Bama.
I think it’s stupid to give these players the kind of money they are asking for without any binding contract. The only way they can have a contract with a player is by making him an employée of the university. And of course school pres will not agree with that because it will be against amateurism principle. Doesn't make sense because they are already paying them (wink wink) to play for their school.
Amateurism my ass. They dont want to pay, they want boosters to foot the bill. Wouldnt it be great if i could get my customers paid for by an outside party and i got to spend the entire invoice how i see fit.
I don't see how anyone could consider College Football, at the SEC level as being remotely "amateur" anymore.
