Legally it won’t. He will walk away with millions and no one will be able to do anything about it. I think after what he went through in criminal court after his last presidency he’s going to make sure as possible he’s not legally liable for anything he does as president.
The next rule change mods should enact is prohibiting posters from deflecting to “but Biden” or “but libs” whenever a topic is about Trump being corrupt.
Probably true. And also true; he went through a fraction of what he should have in criminal courts, based on the appx 60 felony indictments he never went to trial for. But really this is just what America voted for; a criminal conducting corruption and crimes.
Unearthed is not really correct. It has been well known that she works for the Qataris for a while. I guess our executive branch as a whole does now.
This was all so predictable based on the Comer and Jordan investigation of influence peddling. Such as to say, Biden did it (no evidence) so why should we investigate Trump for it.
I'd really like so see text from any statute that states that since X got away with it, then Y can too. Asking for a friend.
We learned the "But Biden" and the "But Libs" tricks from the, "But Jan 6th" thing you guys rely on in almost every thread.
Well, to be fair a lot of them simply ignore the topic. That's what amuses me. Think of how many Trump supporters have read this thread and just ignored it, deciding that this is just another piece of criminality and/or corruption that they'll accept from Donald Trump. Any time one is engaged in discourse with a Trump supporter here, one should bear in mind that they're engaging a person who is 100% tolerant of corruption like this. (To say nothing of all the other corruption and criminality, obviously) It's amazing really. And sad.
“Nothing says ‘America First’ like Air Force One, brought to you by Qatar,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer
It's a great line, but hopefully Chuck is not lagging these other folks in actually doing anything about this. (Well, assuming that anyone does anything about this. Which would be a break in the recent pattern.) "Trump must seek Congress’ consent to take this $300 million gift from Qatar. The Constitution is perfectly clear: no present “of any kind whatever” from a foreign state without Congressional permission. A gift you use for four years and then deposit in your library is still a gift (and a grift)," Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, wrote in a post on X. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer similarly blasted Trump, calling the plane an example of "foreign influence." "Nothing says 'America First' like Air Force One, brought to you by Qatar. It’s not just bribery, it’s premium foreign influence with extra legroom," Schumer, D-N.Y. wrote in a post on X. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., went even further, calling the move "corrupt" and "unconstitutional." "I don’t know who needs to hear this, but NO, Donald Trump cannot accept a $400 million flying palace from the royal family of Qatar. Not only is this farcically corrupt, it is blatantly unconstitutional," Sanders wrote.
This forum has really taken a dive. It was always contentious and polarized but at least there was debate. Now it reads like a 3rd grade argument.
