So we're just all sitting this weather delay out and with a Jeff Head watch for tomorrow, I'm gonna tell my Jeff Head story. It's this game: Baseball vs Florida State on 5/17/2022 - Box Score - Florida Gators

Head's behind the plate and, while Wyatt drew first blood, the 'Noles are getting every call the first two innings. I've got a 'Nole fan dad and his Gator daughter in the seats to my right and he and I start vaguely grunting our opinions of calls, he finally says something to the effect that the 'Noles got a call and I reply he'd gotten several and not to get used to it. He responds with curiosity more than rivalry, so I explain the situation to him honestly. "Home plate blue is Jeff Head. He's an SEC ump. His zone isn't high, isn't low, isn't left, right, wide, or narrow. He's just <expletive> incompetent." Calls go the Gators way shortly thereafter, we exchange knowing looks.

I boo'ed Jordan Carrion his first time or two at-bat (I boo most outgoing transfers if they come back in town... could have been talked out of it then, but not now in the NIL era...), but anyway... he gives me a little crap for that when Carrion ties the game Top-4. Next 4 1/2 innings are all zeros and he and are almost as much snarking to each other about how much JH sucks than rooting for our teams. (His daughter was straight up not having a good time...)

Anyway, Sterlin Thompson hits a 2-run [edit walk off to] the moon in B-9 and I go a little bit nuts. Stop, offer the 'Nole fan my hand and say, "Jeff <expletive> Head, random <expletive> number generator, man." - He shakes my hand and says "Yeah. We'll get you next time. Good luck the rest of the year." Last sentence threw me for a moment, but as he and his daughter went up the aisle, I asked, "Only because of RPI?" He looked at me like I was an idiot, "Yeah, of course!"

He should be fine to continue as long as he just goes straight out to the mound and doesnt throw any warm up. Dont want to throw any unnecessary pitches after that delay. Just toe it up and throw as hard as he can for the rest of the game.

Once again, the bullpens will decide this game. Great job by Peterson, but the delay has been long enough that her probably can't go back out there. The good thing is that I'm home and can watch the rest of the game when it resumes.

Sully said Liam just smashed a couple fence post Red Bulls, ate a banana, and slapped in a bunch of 6 milly Zyn pillys in the top and bottom shelf. Hes good to go.

Assuming Peterson does not go, is he back in the first slot pitching on Thursday due to the low pitch count?

I think that depends on if we win or not honestly… Pierce threw so few pitches and it depends on how we end up playing… Meaning if we win two out of three or sweep the series why change anything up. A rested Liam to carry us down The stretch is a great thing. I could see him throwing 110 or 115 pitches down the road

Well, he threw 114 just 15 days ago...

Alabama is 4-5, 5-3, 4-4 in 3 game SEC series this week. Probably not a lot of matchups happening.

Not yet. Oops, just saw a notification that game is tentatively set to resume at approx 5:30. Not exactly a definitive statement!

From some good information I’ve received, they are waiting for everything in the 15 to 20 mile area to clear out. Could’ve probably once already, but there appears to be some small showers in the area. is still early, so maybe this is a good decision

don’t remember his name but the guy out of the bullpen yesterday I believe it was Grubbs would more than likely take over as he completely shut us down yesterday in the two innings he threw. This one will come down to the bullpen and would not be shocked at all to see Jake go 3 to 4 innings.

I guess if he needs one or two warm up pitches - ok. But no more than that. Coach Kent Murphy says the best way to get loose is to just walk to the mound and throw as hard as you can. And never waste your dinger swings in the on deck circle. HAHA
