Do you think the lack recruiting momentum in the 2026 class is partially due Napier’s current contract situation? Now that the new President has been named do you think a contract extension could be reached in the near future?
Not sure there is a need to redo a $6M year contract for someone who hasnt got more wins than losses and was a hair away from getting canned last year. I think he has a bunch of money remaining and a bunch of show me remaining before anyone would extend him.
True but its more of will he still be here for the recruits. I think history shows that extensions dont really ensure coaches hanging around
I also think that longevity on a contract doesn’t mean as much to recruits as it used to. They have all the leverage and can leave when they want to, most are signing one year deals.
I think the timing of all this is just different now. Just win and the class will fill quickly during the season.
Contract extension? So you want to make a larger buyout and pay a guy more that is 19-19 and never won more than 7 regular season games? Holy cow. Lmao
Giving him a raise and extension would be criminal. If that were to happen it would be time to just fade away and not care anymore.
Agree. Paying him like a “championship coach” will not make him one. IMO we’ve already wasted about 20 million on him. Of course I thought it was a dumb move from the beginning and predicted a return to mediocrity if we couldn’t keep DM happy so there’s that.
if we couldn’t keep DM happy…… Huh? We gave that goofy bastard everything he needed to win here. It was on him that he wasted the opportunity.
As much as I love to jump on Napier. Mullen and Mullen alone was the reason for his failure. He saw the standard in Jacksonville every year and decided that it was too much work to compete. That’s on him and why the NFL laughed in his lazy ass face.
