Anyone watching this? Hands down the best thing in the entire SW cinematic experience, and an outstanding series on its own - though it would have less impact if the viewer didn't have SW knowledge. Putting this here as it would never survive in the Pub. The messaging has been topical and on point. The empire's tactics, the press, politics, and - to the heart of the show - how it effects the common folk has been compelling writing and above average acting all in stunning settings with great character arcs. I hope they stretch this out for another season and look forward to the Rogue One tie in at the end.
Good to hear. I will tune in soon. Rogue One was the best thing ever from Star Wars for me and I liked all of the series, even if it is campy and uneven in parts. Rogue One was not just a good story but it perfectly framed the rest of the saga so simplistically. The ending was cinematic.
Is it a new season? I watched I think two. The one where they were putting together LEGOs was a little sloggy.
First. As a huge Star Wars nerd I've been saying for two years the two best Star Wars entities are Rogue One and Andor, followed by Empire Strikes Back. Andor is amazing. Second. Spoilers. I'm only at episode 4 of season 2 but manyyyy times I've had thoughts about how the writing has been inspired by current politics in the US.
Rogue One was phenomenal as a stand alone film. And extraordinary in tying together episodes 3 and 4 and adding so much gravitas to the overall storyline, Darth Vader, and the Death Star plans.
Oh boy, are you in for a treat. R1 was to the rest of SW what Andor is to R1. Each a more gritty, emotional story with great and complicated plot lines. The 1st episode of season one (the "cop" that tries shaking Andor down) immediately lets the viewer know this isn't your grandfather's SW. And it honestly just kept getting better from there. I re-watched all of season 1 on recent cross country flights and may have enjoyed it more the second time through. Season 2 is not disappointing.
Yes season two almost completely available. 9 of 12 episodes on Disney now with the final three dropping next Tuesday.
For sure on the modern inspiriation. Though one could also claim a lot of the continued Nazi Germany inspiration (the costumes in Andor are comically Wehrmacht). One could also make the claim of "same same". One of the things that make this show great is how all the common folk, or "middle management" types handle the political tide. Clear nods to how people are brought to do such deeds. The show has little to do with the Presidents, or Emprorers, or Jedi Leaders, or anyone. You have a middling Senator as the character of highest status / power and she's been rendered inneffective for most of the show.
Rogue 1 was what the SW universe should have become permanently. That and Andor has storytelling that actually reflect the demographics of the core audience, which is now largely older white men. Try and expand the viewership base all you want, but without that group there’s no viable franchise, and they keep dumping on them. /nerd rant.
Agree that it’s some of the best television I think I’ve ever watched. But I’m 99% sure the showrunners have emphatically said this is the last season. They wanted to wrap this up before Diego (actor that plays Andor) was too old to believably tie the series into Rogue One.
So the one I’m talking about was S1? I realize I could Google Machine it, but that would run afoul of me being obstinate.
I think what makes it special (aside from just damn good writing, acting and directing), is that both stories focused on characters that are regular people and therefore much more relatable than space wizards all with the last name Skywalker. I certainly love Jedis, but they and the force need to be more of an element in Star Wars stories versus the core focus.

Yeah. Andor and Rogue 1 being basically "force adjacent" was very appealing. To make sure this stays on Too Hot, the new season dabbles in illegals workers
I've been watching. It's the first SW product I've liked in a long time. And the Empire reminds me so much of MAGA, and even more so a certain regime from the 1930s that shall not be named.
