Meh, until we see the results on the field it will be hard to know. Right now he's 19-19. We all hope that improves this season.
It’s dumb. Particularly now. If I’m understanding this correctly you can’t pick up a guy mid season because of injuries to help in practice like the NFL.
Scholarships are limited to 85, and you can only play 11 at a time — who cares how many walk ons you have?
105 players gives you 4 deep at every position plus extras. If you get down to your 4th best player at most positions due to injuries, you weren't winning anyway.
Our coach cares. We had some walk ons play some significant minutes out of necessity last year. That could be an incredible anomoly, but if a coach sees it one year, he will plan around that strange occurrence every year after.
I think Napier and his "army" have navigated the hodgepodge silliness that the NCAA has cobbled together and called rules... Yes, in that respect the Gators have a system to overcome the foolishness called the NCAA college football rules.
Hope you’re right. I’ve been on the Billy train for 3 years. He has completely revamped everything, with the program …and for the better. But, this has to be the year. I’m not going to say x # of wins or a playoff. But we need to be a team that others fear.
I agree. So if Billy really is doing this the right way and showing progress, why does it “have to be this year”?
Skink, I’m as patient as anyone on this board. But we can’t have brain fart games at this point. IMO this is the best roster, top to bottom, we’ve had since 2012. We need to see progress
Agree! No set number of victories are necessary to keep me supporting the regime (should be around 9-10 wins total if we stay half-way healthy); but games like Miami and TAMU can't happen next year. We gotta look like we've been coached up to play in the SEC!
My opinion doesn't matter but if you get nearly complete freedom to rebuild an organization to your liking and implement whatever short, mid and long term strategies you desire then those short, mid and long term strategies need to start showing benefits 4 years in. Especially when they're questionable strategies, like being your own offensive coordinator despite other clearly better offensive coaches having coordinators. If I get 4 performance reviews that rate me as needing improvement I'll also likely be fired. He's gotten 3 of them. He doesn't need a 5/5 superb rating but he needs a 3/5 succeeding at least.
You don’t think the last half of last season was “showing benefits 4 years in”? Especially since it was only 3 years in? We are seeing the improvement we’ve been looking for the past 3 years - rather than threaten running him off if he suddenly starts going backward, how about working from the assumption that he will continue to improve? If he doesn’t, then you can bring out your pitchforks. The incessant negativity is so far beyond old……
He needs to best the teams that are less talented than us and have a positive winning percentage against teams with equal talent. Expecting any coach to beat teams with a talent advantage is just setting yourself up for disappointment. What would our record be this year if you solely took into account the recruiting ranking and experience of our roster.
Well since a top ten recruiting ranking is worth the 6th best in the SEC, I'd say somewhere around 9-4 to 8-5. Puts at 6th ish in the SEC.
If only our D can look somewhat like the last half this first half. After our second game(South Florida) it gets real. I will feel okay if we finish the first 6, 4-2. 2025 Football Schedule - Florida Gators
