look at Arthur Anderson....a few folks screwed up & the whole company went down. If that had been gov, next to nothing woulda happened.

The appliances that are the best in energy efficiency will probably be advertising that fact.

& will also be more than happy to have a 3rd party verify it.

    Consumer reports could do it.

there was a movie called the Avengers with Uma Thurman that refused to have a pre-screening. rotten tomatoes score = 5%. this demonstrates the power of 3rd party reviews. we don't need gov here or in many instances where there are 3rd parties that have skin in the game. or, sans, RT, we have customer reviews. who relies on gov when we have data?

this week I had electrical repairs & sprinkler sys repairs done on a rental property. I relied 100% on reviews. no need for gov. I could not care less if they are licensed or whatever.

certified organic was for many years done privately. I have no idea if gov is involved now, but we don't need them. if a private company does it & it is shown that they were wrong, they're toast. If gov screws it up, what happens? nothing.

Garbage Mortgage Backed Securities, rated AAA by every ratings agency. It one of the reasons 2008 was so bad. The ratings agencies were literally just rubber stamping these things.

Ahhh gotcha my bad. Yes the one where Brooksley Borne tried to warn everyone and then got blackballed by everyone including the same politicians that wagged their fingers at bank CEOs at a hearing which served no purpose other than theatrics as nobody afterwards hung for their actions. Yes lol, im familiar I just missed the reference lol.

    Yes exactly

I recall one investment bank it may have been Goldman Sachs was recommending those securities to its retail customers while its traders were shorting them. Thanks to deregulation and the reduction of oversight under the current president, sh*t like that could very well happen again.
